We stayed in the Mimslyn Inn for two nights while visiting Shenandoah NP after reading reviews on this site. The outside is certainly impressive, and the building stands out as the best looking thing in Luray. The staff were very pleasant.
The room was reasonably small, but clean, as was the bathroom. However the problem I had was the noise. We arrived at about 9pm on a Thursday night, and were given a room on the corridor quite close to the reception desk. This meant that we heard conversations, and doors opening and closing for several hours. The air conditioning machine was also on the loud side.
The most irritating thing for us though, was the loud music blasted out around the pool. Our room window opened straight out on the pool area, so we had to keep the lights on and the curtains pulled when calling back to the room during the day.
From 12pm till 8.30pm on the Friday there was really loud music being blasted out right outside our room window, and I would imagine this effected everyone on our side of the building.
It's just a shame that a nice, 'historic hotel' (that wasn't exactly cheap to stay in, at $150 per night), let itself down with this, as otherwise it was a pleasant experience.
