“68th New York & Virginia Club Reunion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2014

I've stayed at other locations in Luray, but this is by far the best. I'm a native resident that moved away but return often. Annually, I return to celebrate a reunion that was started by my mother and her friends. It dates back to when I was a toddler. The Mimslyn has hosted our dinner dance on some occasions but I've also enjoyed staying there. 5up come and enjoy the valley and rest your head on the hill and rock in a front veranda chair looking out at the mountain chain sipping a glass of red ;-)

Room Tip: Rooms facing north on the front side. You get to see the sunrise

We stayed at the Mimslyn during the week of July 27th and had the most perfect time. We were warmly greeted as we entered the hotel by a very sweet gentleman, Travis. He helped us with our accommodation and settled us in efficiently. Our room was very comfortable and clean! It had all the amenities a guest could ask for! We were told during the reservation process that the room had a mountain view and it did! We were ecstatic! They had two different areas to have a meal--the restaurant on the first floor and a pub on the basement level. We ate at both places and each meal was delicious! Our stay at the Mimslyn was amazing! The room was perfect and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a beautiful stay, gracious hosts, and amazing views!

Room Tip: For this hotel, the Mimslyn will accommodate to anything you would like or need. They are so helpfu...

Just East of Shenandoah National Park on route 211, and West of the Jewel Valley access road lies the town of Luray, Virginia. There are lots of things to do in Luray, such as walking the Hawksbill Greenway that runs through the center to town, canoeing on the Shenandoah River, visiting the famous Luray Caverns, or just taking in the laid back town.

The historic Mimslyn Inn, located on a hill in the town, welcomes visitors with it's impressive entrance off main street. The hotel entrance features large white columns, and rocking chairs on the front porch. Once inside, the large lobby features a spiral stairway and elevator to upper floors. The general manager (Jim) and staff personnel go out of their way to make sure you have an enjoyable stay.

The hotel also has a formal dining room off the main lobby, and a relaxed Speakeasy Bar & Restaurant located downstairs, as well as a spa and workout room. A solarium, with outdoor seating, is located on the 3rd floor....a great place to chill out after a day of hiking, canoeing, etc.

And to top things off, the hotel location affords visitors a great view of both the Shenandoah Park mountains to the East, and Blue Ridge mountains to the West. A great place to stay.

Room Tip: All rooms provide adequate space for two, but we find the suites to be very roomy and reasonably pri...

This was a great property to stay if you are in the area and visiting the caverns or Shenandoah National Park. Our room was very comfortable, we had a king size bed and a pull out full bed for my son. The room size was very comfortable and it had a very large bathroom, though the lighting isn't good for makeup application. The property had a small but adequate pool and spa, it had a workout area and restaurant on the premises. The front porch is where we had drinks and dinner, I loved that they had rocking chairs to sit in while you enjoyed a drink. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. This is a old restored hotel, we had a very comfortable stay here.

Room Tip: We had the room with the king beds and fireplace which seemed larger than other rooms.

This property offers comfort and charm. The room was a little small however it provided all that was needed. The bed was firm and comfortable. The grounds provided abundant sitting locations. We ate dinner and breakfast on the porch. Service exceeded the quality of the dinner (somewhat bland). Breakfast was very good. We enjoyed our stay and would return without hesitation.

It is a pleasure to hear that you were comfortable during your stay at The Mimslyn Inn. We do offer our guests many opportunities to sit and enjoy our beautiful surroundings and decor and I am pleased you enjoyed doing so.
Should your travels permit a return visit, and I genuinely hope they do soon, I hope you will consider reserving one of our spacious suites!
I'm am delighted that you received top-notch service during dinner, but disappointed that you felt the quality to be less than top-notch. I hope we have the opportunity to serve you again soon so that we may exceed your expectations.
Thank you for being our guest and for taking the time to share your experience with other travelers.

We were met at the door by 2 handsome young doormen, greeted by a lovely lady named Brenda Kay and directed to the sweetest little room ever! The pool was clean, nice, wonderful along with a great little hot tub. We ate on the porch (how sweet) with excellent service. We had a great one night getaway. GO! you will not regret it. AND there are so many cool things to do around Luray.

Room Tip: Review rooms on line to fit your needs and wants, we were happy with a small room and full bed. All...

This hotel is worth a stay. My boyfriend and I were spending a week hiking and exploring Shenandoah National Park, and really enjoyed coming back to the Mimslyn at the end of the day. After thinking of staying in one of the Park's hotels, we eventually decided upon the Mimslyn just because it looked so beautiful, and was reasonably priced, and we knew it would add a bit of luxury to our very rustic vacation. The first night we pulled up the grand driveway, there were people sitting in the rocking chairs and people having dinner on the magnificent front porch. There was even a fancy 1920s car sitting out front (I don't think the Hotel's) but we really felt like we were back in time. People were taking pictures in the lobby, there was a piano player, and here I was rolling in all my hiking stuff, but the staff was very, very accommodating. Our room was very spacious, clean, and inviting. We were on the third floor and I loved having the sun-room/upstairs porch right by our room. We had dinner out there 2 nights, and it felt very special. Every morning they had free coffee/tea and muffins in the lobby, and there was always someone there to greet you and offer any assistance. The pool was immaculate. It's about a 10-15 minute drive to the one entrance of the Park. It really felt like going home after as long day. I truly enjoyed our stay here.

Room Tip: We had a mountain view, historic room.
