“Historic Charmer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

Beautiful historic property. Stayed with friends after hiking 6 days on the Appalachian Trail. Very nice rooms(a bit small by today's standards). Had wine pairing dinner which was great value. Stephanie did outstanding job.

From the young man at the door to the stiff drinks to that excellent service on the front porch, it could only be topped off by Steve and Jim's attention to making sure everything was just right. My husband and I had the wine dinner and thought it was nicely paired and reasonably priced. The wait staff needs to become "one" though. Too much variation in service methods. Still recommend this place though.

My wife and I just got back from a long weekend at the Inn. We purchased an living social deal online. The staff for the most part was very friendly. The inn has two restaurants there one is in the basement and its called the Speakeasy. The wait staff was amazing, very friendly and fun. The food was so good and oriced right. The other restaurant is more formal which is strange since it doubles as the breakfast cafe. As part if the living social deal we received free breakfasts with our stay. The first day the waitress was surper friendly and helpful the second day the waitress was not two excited to be serving the free breakfast and also talked bad about a group on a bicycle tour to the other staff members. We still tipped as if the meal was paid for but she just wasn't liking her job I guess. Anyway the inn is wonderful despite the one waitress. The pool was still opened and so was the Third floor terrace which was nice and peaceful. They had a cozy fire in the lobby at night and the front porch is also a very relaxing place to have a drink and chill out. Overall wonderful stay. Also go visit the little movie theatre in town. Amazingly decorated and a super enjoyable place to watch a movie.

We found the Inn online and knew nothing about it at that time. We were really pleased when we arrived and were greeted at the door by an attendant. Everybody was very pleasant and made us feel welcome. The reason we picked the Inn was because we only had one night in the area and everybody else was asking for a two night stay. To our surprise we hit the jackpot. The restaurant was first class all the way from service to food. Sunday brunch was fantastic. The evening in the speakeasy was also fun mixing with the locals. Our room was a little small but we didn't spend much time in it. We will return.

Room Tip: Third floor will give you the best view.

My wife and i finally had a night away with out the kids and we went to the Mimslyn Inn for parents night out. The hotel staff were great and very friendly. We opted for the couples massage in the downstairs spa. We had Rich and Brittany and they were great. My wife has back pains and Rich really took his time to find out where here pains were and she was really pleased with the results. Brittany took her time and used the right amount of pressure. It felt so good i was like a new man when we left. We will be returning soon.

Room Tip: This hotel has quiet time between 10 and 7 so all rooms are quiet

I took my 9 year old to the Inn for a night to help celebrate her birthday and have some fun one-on-one time with her. The staff at the Inn made everything very special for us, in every way! Besides being a gorgeous place to stay, the people at the Inn made it a truly memorable and fun experience for us. We'll be back!!

Nearing arrival through the town of Luray we wondered if the Mimslyn Inn could possibly look as grand as the photos we had seen. Before us upon a hill stood the grand looking beautiful building with the winding driveway entrance. It was beautifully landscaped but I was sad to see that although there was a wedding in progress the potted flowers on the front porch were either dead or dying from neglect. The rest of the Inn was beautiful and the staff very friendly. We stayed in a historic room on the 2nd floor. We enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast on the porch with an included mimosa. I must admit that had we known it was a buffet style breakfast and the distance we would need to carry our plates and the flies we would be swatting away, we would have eaten indoors. Aside from the dead and dying potted plants, the cobwebs in the windows I felt should have been something tended to more frequently. We would stay at the Mimslyn Inn again if we are in the area.
