The Riverhouse is located… exactly: at Kaweah river. This distinguishes this lovely B&B from most other accommodations in Three Rivers (3R) which are located on the Highway and are probably not as quiet as this gem.
3R is a good basis to explore Sequioa & King’s Canyon National Parks – but don’t underestimate the distances. It is approx. a 1h drive to the visitor center in Sequioa NP and 1.5-2h to Grant Grove visitor center at the beginning of King’s Canyon NP.
3R could use some more restaurants, too. We nearly starved when we waited more than 1h for our food at the Mexican place.
After booking you receive a 16 pages e-mail with insider information from Peter & Leah and directions – you really need them, otherwise you would probably never find them! All exchanged e-mails were very nice.
There are 2 guest rooms which share a common living room. The living room is very spacious and if you have energy left in the evening you can choose between board games, books, an extensive DVD collection, billiard table, tabletop soccer
The guest rooms are HUGE! There is an incredible amount of space and a very big bathroom area with a big bathtub/ shower. The bed was very comfy – we appreciate a hard mattress! There were enough lamps and a small table. We were allowed to use the telephone to call our families in Germany. No room service.
Unfortunately, there was no hair dryer and the hosts themselves don’t possess one either.
Breakfast was delicious. I especially liked the fresh fruits which were already sliced and nicely decorated on a plate.
Unfortunately, Leah was not very flexible regarding breakfast which doesn’t fit to her and Peter’s otherwise great hospitality. You get exactly what you ordered the day before from their menu: 1 cold drink, 1 hot drink with refill, 2 warm dishes. It is not possible to get a refill for the cold drink (and the glasses are really small) or a glass of orange juice if you have not ordered it before. It is not possible to get 2 cold drinks instead of 1 hot, 1 cold.
