“Good location bad service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

This motel is ideal for exploring Kings Canyon however the rooms are a little tired as the staff seemed to be. On arrival there was a problem with the water which the staff were dealing with however as we were an hour early for check in we were told in no uncertain terms to come back later.
Chaos is how I would describe breakfast, lots of people and not enough room to put a plate down when waiting for instance for toast.
There is a small grocery store across the road and a little restaurant which we did not eat in, but there is nothing else within walking distance.
The only good thing about this hotel was the location.

We stayed here before visiting Sequoia National Park.It is a short distance to Foothill Visitor Centre and Ash Mountain entrance to the Park.
Our room had a comfortable, clean Queen bed -microwave fridge and coffeemaker in room
Even though the breakfast area off the lobby was crowded, the complimentary breakfast had a nice variety of hot and cold items. We would definitely recommend this property

This hotel is perfectly comfortable and offers breakfast but the most importantly it is in a great location for the national park. The hotel also offers free parking and wifi. The staff on the front desk were very helpful.

I'm sure the managers here are rolling their eyes and shaking their heads at the reviews posted about their property. But give me a break...the sign posted in the bathroom lists the charge per item if removed from the room. The wording did make me smile though. I'm sure theft/loss is a part of the hotel and hospitality business, but if you're going to post a sign about taking a $15 washcloth, I should be able to charge you for the interrupted night's sleep of the squealing toilet (which we could only remedy by removing the tank top repeatedly during the night) or the deep freeze refrigerator that froze our week's worth of food in one night. But, no, we didn't ask for a refund, we chalked it up to staying in a hotel that may not have the ability to address every issue in a timely fashion and still keep the occupancy. Our bad.

One note, this hotel participates in a booking process through NATIONAL PARKS RESERVATIONS. This is not part of the NPS and should not be confused with them. We paid almost $250 for this room. Be aware, they also charge an Early Departure fee. I'm sorry, if the room I've PAID to sleep in for the night doesn't meet the most basic of standards (noise, working order of appliances, etc) then I should be able to leave. Period. The fact that you charged me $50 to leave early is unacceptable. Will not return nor recommend.

Room Tip: Report all issues to maintenance at once...we learned our lesson!

Ok location. Very basic stay, more like a motel than a hotel.
Room/bed was adequate for job.
Breakfast was farcical. Only 2 of the 4 toasters working + waffle machines, fruit selection + more all on a 1m table!
Paper plates and plastic cutlery and not the most clean or attractive room. Having said that....You're only there for 30 minutes and it wasn't that bad of a selection. Just don't expect the ritz!
* Ps no lift and no wifi

Surprised that Choice Hotels continues to endorse their franchise on this particular property. There were broken AC units in the main hallways, broken thermostats on ac and the refrigerator in the room, the mattresses were sagging severely, the shower rod fell off because it was not permanently attached, and there was mold in the collection tray of the ice machine. This property appears to be very busy with both domestic and international guests coming to visit Sequoia National Park. It's probably quite a feat to try to juggle the crowds, but unless issues are addressed continuing the franchise will result in continued customer disappointment.

Room Tip: Stay a little further out in Visalia, CA where there are higher quality motels and amenities.

I'm sure the chaotic, over-crowded, breakfast scene at this generic chain hotel was not the lasting impression hotel management was hoping for.
More tables please!
Rooms are basic and clean.
Unless you want to get back in your car and drive, dinner is limited to either the Mexican or pizza restaurants across the street. A captive market leads to food mediocrity, though the live music at the Mexican was a lovely treat.
All in all, a dependable over-night between parks but if you're going to be a few days, there are more charming, if rustic, alternatives.
