Perfectly adequate hotel with a friendly staff. We checked in mid-afternoon after coming from Sequoia (what a scary drive!), and our room had all the standard amenities I'd expect from a Comfort Inn. Clean, quiet and secluded . . . VERY secluded, in fact! There are only a few restaurants nearby and the hotel itself does not offer dinner, so be prepared to dine out with everyone in your hotel down the street. We were able to get into the Pizza Factory for dinner -- just a minute drive down the street, or go for a walk -- but, barring that, not sure what we would have done. Just plan accordingly!

The included breakfast was good -- waffle maker, muffins, fruit, etc. The staff was obviously working to make sure everything was clean and well-stocked, which we appreciated.

There are very few choices near the entrance to Sequoia National Park and this is probably the best. That said, it's a very average Comfort Inn. Couldn't get room at 2:30. Had to wait until 4 p.m. Who has a firm 4 p.m. check-in? Nowhere I've been in 40 states and 30 years of traveling. Morning breakfast is free, but it's pedestrian. Room was clean, but just OK. So, it's the best choice in a limited field. By the way, get gas before entering park if you're less than a half tank and prepare for 30 miles of unending white-knuckle hairpin turns to see the trees.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting a review about our property. I apologize that you could not check in till 4pm but there are some days when it does take up till that time to get the property cleaned and maintenance as well as the rooms and then of course, inspected. I hope that you did enjoy the park and all it has to offer.

Sincerely,

Shelly Matlock

I stayed at this hotel because it was recommended to me as the best place to stay in Three Rivers at a reasonable price. I was not disappointed. I had two queen beds toward the back of the building and didn't hear any road traffic. The room was spacious, fairly modern, hair dryer and coffee maker. It had a big easy chair and a desk. The hotel was only about 6 miles to the entrance to Sequoia NP. I couldn't get cell service there. I don't know if it was because of my cell provider (Sprint) or if it was too close to the park where there is no cell service. They did have WiFi. They also had a free nice breakfast. Nicole, the hotel clerk, was very friendly. I want to give it 5 stars, but I have stayed at a few nicer places for similar price. This place also has a pool and hot tub, but I didn't get a chance to use it. I requested an easy access room, which they gave me so it would be easy to carry in my suitcase. I plan to stay at this hotel the next time I go there. Also friends stayed at this hotel and they were very satisfied and will stay there again when they return.

Room Tip: Rooms toward the front are closer to the pool and hot tub. Rooms toward the back are further from t...

We were so tired we saw a Choice Hotel and hoped for the best. It was not one of the best Choice properties we have stayed at. No pride of ownership here. More like an econolodge than a comfort Inn.

Location-Good location to the park. There is a shuttle that stops at the hotel. Good way to go if you want to see it all in a hurry.
Reception-kept her cool in a busy situation.
Breakfast –Missing yogurt and cream cheese from the Choice Hotels basic breakfast.
Room-A bit more budget that other Comfort Inn and suits we have stayed at. Vey noisy.
Light for reading –good
Bed –Comfortable except for the new pillows at this chain. I find them very uncomfortable.
Air Conditioning-Noisy
Wi-Fi-Good considering the location
TV-Good, new
Refrigerator-No refrigerator or microwave
Room for bags-Plenty
Tea Kettle or coffee maker-Yes
Bathroom-a bit crowded with the closet and the door to the shower-toilet opening to the sink.
Shower pressure-Fair
Cloths line-No
Safety bar in bathroom-Yes
Towels-Thin but clean
Amenities-Basic
Hair dryer-Yes
Full length mirror-Yes
Makeup mirror- NO
Parking-Free
Laundry-Self Serve
Iron and ironing board-yes
Complimentary bottle water-No
Plugs-No plugs for the computer by the bed

Room Tip: Go to the second floor

Dear Guest,

Thank you for such a thorough review... I hope that the noise level you mention did not prohibit sleep as Im unclear what that noise is. Im sure that if you had brought this to our attention we would have addressed the issue to the best of our ability.

I do thank you for staying with us and hope that we will be able to give you a place of comfort again in the future.

We stayed here for one night before a day trip to Sequoia and Kings Canyon NP. The hotel is in a good location with a couple of reasonable food options across the road. We had pizza which was good, but there is also Mexican. There is a small market also across the road. There are two fuel stations a few km up the road towards the NPs.
Our room was a king room and was clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was basic but clean and there were minimal complimentary toiletries offered. The shower head was old and could only be adjusted between a fine needle spray or a slow central flow. The bath towels were clean but quite thin and worn. A bit beyond their use by date I think.
Wifi internet is complimentary and although it was a little slow it was fine for basic browsing and email checking.
Breakfast was also complimentary and there was a good range of hot and cold options. It is disappointing to have to use paper plates and plastic cutlery, but this has been typical in a couple of US hotels we have stayed in recently.
Check in was efficient and the young man handling our booking was very polite, chatty and helpful. Overall a good place to stay.

Stayed overnight after a day trip to Sequoia National Park and had a good nights sleep. It's a clean and comfortable place to stay. It's location is convenient because its about 20 min from the park entrance. There is really not much in the area because the town is very small. We were able to have dinner at The Gateway Restaurant (awesome river view) and it's about 10 min drive from the hotel. I really didn't see anything else nearby...only a few gift stores. Hotel also has a little gift shop with a few souvenirs, snacks, toiletries, etc... Laundry is also available for $1.25 (each washer and dryer) and they sell detergent and fabric softener also in their gift shop.

Breakfast was nice...the only weird thing is that you must take a "breakfast voucher" to enter the breakfast area which is awkward and it annoyed me that they actually count the amount of vouchers you present and the amount of people in your room, it's like you are constantly being watched during breakfast. Anyway, breakfast offers waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, muffins and cereal. In my opinion it is a nice variety and nice way to start the day

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting such a wonderful review for us and I apologize for your uneasiness regarding our voucher system. We do this because we are the only hotel in Three Rivers that offers a full hot breakfast; guests from other hotels and campgrounds in the area do try to take advantage of that so you can imagine how that could change things for our guests. We do want only our guests to partake in the buffet so that we can offer the best service to only our valued guests.

Many Blessings and I hope that you arrived home or to your next destination safely.

OK I'll start by saying the hotel itself was perfectly adequate. Great location! The room was nice enough, clean and the spa was very nice and breakfast was good. Now,....the real story. After visiting Yosemite we needed a place to stay before visiting Sequoia. We made a reservation for a two queen bed room for around $100. But then after hiking all day we called and asked if their in-room spa suite was still available. And if so could we get that room instead? We were informed we could for around $36 extra, we said ok lets do it.. So after hours on the road we arrive to check in, and the only one there is the owner, who is inexplicably absent for 10 to 15 mins. and has a line of three people to check in when she comes running back. She finally checks us in and explains that if we lose our little breakfast voucher it'll be ten bucks for breakfast. WHAT?! Our "Suite" it turns out, has one queen bed and one futon. We were tired enough I didn't really care about the futon. So we slept well and enjoyed our breakfast ( After showing our voucher papers were in order.) and went to check out. Looking at the bill we noticed we were charged an additional $31. When we asked what it was for the desk girl informed us it was an "UPGRADE FEE" Had we known the cost for the "Suite" would be an extra $67 we would have chose otherwise. and of course, they know that. That's why they don't tell you till your cards been charged. We tried to dispute the charge but the girl at the desk told us we had been checked in by the owner and there was nothing she could do. This one Comfort Inn owner has insured we will NEVER return to another Comfort Inn or any of its affiliates.

Room Tip: Beware if you upgrade your room to a suite, You will be charged an "Upgrade Fee"

Dear Guest,

I apologize for your unexpected charges. Yes the upgrade to our King Bed Jacuzzi Suite was $36 extra and the notes in your account were misinterpreted by our front desk staff at check out. She did bring your issue to our attention and we immediately adjusted that money back to your credit card. I so very much apologize for that confusion and will retrain our front desk staff to pay closer attention to the notes posted on our guests accounts.

We do use breakfast vouchers for each guest and we do place a value of $10 per person on our breakfast buffet. The reason we use breakfast vouchers is because we are the ONLY hotel in Three Rivers that offers a complete full hot breakfast. Because of this we have encountered guests coming in and eating from our buffet who are not our guests but rather are from other hotels and various campgrounds in the area. This is the only way we can stay in control of this situation so that we can provide maximum service to our own guests.

Overall I do apologize again for your negative experience here and do hope that you can someday give us another chance to change that.

Sincerest Apologizes,

Shelly Matlock
