“Wonderful experience !!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2009

My husband and I were going to Seqouia National Park and found this Inn and Cabins online. The cabin was a little small but was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, soap, towels, the kitchen was stocked with appliances and all of the need dishes and utensils needed to cook. The cabin we stayed in had a private hot tub on the patio and was righ off of the river. The downside of it is it is off of a main street making it hard to pull in and out of the cabin because of the high speed of the cars and you do hear passing cars in the cabin. It was a minor inconvience.

We were happy with our stay: spacious, clean, airconditioned room, big bed, great location just a couple of minutes drive from the park entrance. Service at the front desk was quick and friendly and we got advice about where to eat. The Mexican restaurant they recommended was really good. Breakfast in a bag was ok (juice, fruit & cake) and it came early which was good.

This review is solely for the Sequoia House (I haven't stayed at the Inn or the other cabins). I've spent two New Year Eves at this house already - wanted to return for a third, but, alas, it was booked. I came in a group of 8-10 people. The house is great - the beds are nice, the place is spotless. The website description is accurate (not misleading as some other experiences I had). It's a bit pricey, but worth it if you come with a group and split the cost. We love to have breakfast together in the morning, caravan up to the park, and come down in the evening to bbq and cook dinner together. The living room is large (good thing for a group like us)... brought the Wii and had room to "play" tennis :) The kitchen is well-equipped - the dishwasher is a nice bonus - imagine doing dishes for 10 people (while on vacation!). We came in winter time - the house warms up nicely and we never experienced heating or plumbing issues. The owners are very nice and friendly.
Tips and fyi's - 1. Pay attention to the 'instructions' - clean up a bit and vacuum before you leave and there'll be no problems at the end. 2. Very sketchy cell phone reception in the area, but there is a landline in the house. 3. If you come in winter time you will most likely need chains to enter the park and they don't sell them in Three Rivers. Be safe and bring them from home or buy them in Visalia. Wouldn't it suck to make the long trip and have the ranger turn you around? Pep Boys has a 30-day return policy if you don't use them. 4. There is a grocery store in town where you can buy stuff to cook at the house, but I'd advise that you try and bring food with you if possible. The store is ok, but they may not be open by dinner time when you make your way back from the park.

Me and my fiance went to the River Inn and Cabins and stayed in the little cabin with its private jacuzzi. Not only was the jacuzzi fantastic and wonderfully secluded. It had its own little kitchen with refrigerator, stove, sink, microwave and all the fixings. It even had dish towels and cleaner for the dishes that THEY provided. It was fantastic and romantic. Outside it has a deck and bbq and a trail down to the river. We had a wonderful time and plan to go back every year!!!!!!!!

  • Liked — The private Spa and beautiful views.
  • Disliked — Nothing.

We had a perfectly lovely stay at the River Inn and Cabins. The proprietors were very helpful and gracious. They offered a wealth of information on things to see and do in the area. And the rooms were excellent. Highly recommended!

We stayed three nights in the hotel during Thanksgiving holidays. Overall the hotel is good but very basic; nothing extraordinary. The front desk person was friendly and very helpful and gave us a lot of information. The breakfast was a brown bag with fresh fruit, muffins and juice. Could have been better.

The location is very convenient; it's located one mile from the Sequoia National Park entrance.

I would stay there again.

we stayed one night in the motel and found everything ok, the motel looks more seducing on picture then in reality, it is located next to the road and offers a well kept room for the night, the breakfast brought at the door in the morning is far to basic: no bread no juice, just a cookie and some fruit, wouldn't recommend for a longer stay,
