“Nice place, nice people!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2011

The room we had, unit 2, was upstairs, quiet, spacious, clean, and fairly private. Upon checking in, we were greeted warmly and felt immediately at home. The room has a microwave and fridge, and they supply a 'breakfast basket' with a muffin and sweet roll (could be healthier options!), fruit, drinks but the coffee beans and the grinder in the room was a nice touch, except I worried about waking up other guests when I ground it at 6am!
The pool looked inviting and clean, the grounds have a lovely river right behind it, so that was cool! We left our windows open at night and slept to the roar of the river.
We didn't watch TV but there was one in the room. They had games available to borrow from the office so we did that instead. I saw that in the office they also had movies and books to loan. Overall I would say this was the nicest place in the area and definitely had the nicest people! We would stay again if we were in the area. (But if you are hiking in Sequoia like we were, be aware that there's a major elevation change from the hotel to the hiking areas!)

We had an uncomfortable queen size bed and the room was very small. The bathroom was also very uncomfortable. The shower head hit my six foot tall husband in the chest. This was the only option since there was no tub. The commode sits in a tunel where any lateral movement was impossible. AC unit sounds like a freight train. The pool was nice and the view was beautiful. However, for 154.00 per night we felt we over paid by 120.00.

Great location. Very nice room. Very helpful staff. Breakfast basket was not really a breakfast though.

This place was the best possible place to stay in Three Rivers without staying directly in Sequoia. Awesome river in the back yard too! We stayed in the King mini suite..it had a small fridge and a microwave. Fresh coffee and a daily breakfast basket that had some fruit and homemade muffins. There are markets on the way to buy food and there is a restaurant next door also. 1/4 of a mile to the entrance of Sequoia. Around $100 a night.

Room Tip: Try to stay on the first floor..it is easier to walk to the river.

The Buckeye was my 12yo daughter and my base to explore Sequoia Ntl Park and Three Rivers for 2-1/2 days. Right outside our immaculate and comfortable 2-queen room (#1) was the beautiful whitewater of one of the 3 rivers (3of the 4 forks of the Kaweah). This and the closeness to Sequoia Ntl Park--both the Foothills entrance and Mineral King--make the Buckeye a great choice! I enjoyed many hours on the (shared) porch/patio--often with freshly in-room brewed coffee and a piece of fruit and a muffin from the complementary basket--as well as by the small but adequate salt-water pool. The ladies in the office were always ready to chat and were very friendly and helpful. The Buckeye is a bit north of the "center" of town, a short drive away, but being on the river overlooking the foothills make the extra >10 minute drive worth easily forgetable.

My daughter did find the air conditioner noisy, but it sounded like the white noise of my summer childhoods and didn't bother me.

Stayed for 2 nights,What a wonderful find. The staff were great very helpful and good touches such as having a huge pile of menus in the lobby to save you having to drive the whole town to make a choice of resturant. also warned us of driving restrictions in park with road closures.

Our room was number 10 just beyond the swimming pool and not attached to the main lodge, with a wonderful view of the river from the balcony. A large room, with ensuite shower room, 2 double beds and a small sitting area with a table and microwave, coffe filter machine, grinder and coffee beans provided. breakfast baskets arrived both evenings and the resturant next door provided great food as well as a tightrope walker over the river for entertainment!

the windows were all fly screned and we slept well with just the fan running, turning the air-conditioning unit off and listening to the river crashing over the rocks. didnt use TV or the substantial video library that is available as were too busy enjoying National park and the outdoors. internet worked in our room well enough to check for mail and send messages.

would recomend as suited us fine and is near to National park entrance

Stayed in one of the cabins, across the road from the main motel/riverside area. A bit chagrined not to be on the river, but on the plus side we got a terrific view of the hills from a huge private deck with lounge chairs. The cabin was very new and well furnished, with a full kitchen, fridge, microwave, range, coffee maker, HD TV, and wireless internet. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Three Rivers area is a bit dumpy, and restaurant choices are pretty extreme, either $$$ or low-brow pizza. The market's got what you need to make your own dinner. Breakfast is NOT included when you're in the cabins. Would stay here again, although really our first choice would be at the lodge in the NP, as the trip into the park is a bit of a grind, and you now have to time it carefully since they only let cars through from this entrance once an hour on the hour. (Drivers take note!)
