“Great location fpr sequioa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

Stay was great for the amount paid. Good sized room, dated but clean. Had our own specific parking spot beneath our room which was fab to bring bags up. We arrived late after a long drive from vegas but staff were great and got us to our room quickly. Basic breakfast with coffee and fridge in room.

We stayed here for two nights to visit sequoia national park - it offered a basic but quite large room with fairly 'kitschy' country home rancher kind of decor - contributing to a kind of chevy chase movie roadside inn experience. Absolutely no complaints - it was clean and tidy and the king bed was comfortable. There's dining options about 5mins drive up the road - three rivers seemed like a pretty cool little town really with a unique and at least mildly alternative vibe - a few interesting thrift/boutique/art style stores a good antique shop and a good sandwich deli to get packed lunches for going to the park all day.. Its a pretty windy drive up the mountain (about an hr) but the sequoias are just amazingly worth it.

Front office staff very nice and welcoming, from initial phone calls to the day of arrival. Actual room / suite was pretty dated, but overall seemed clean enough. Ample water bottles were provided (for free!) which was a nice bonus for the next day which we spent in Sequoia NP. Pool is small, but a lot of hotel pools are similar. We had a kitchenette, which again was very dated (had an old "icebox" for fridge!), but seemed to work fine. Ample dishes, bowls, and cookware, etc. are provided; everything provided to cook meals if you want. There are also outdoor grills if you want to use those. Our family enjoyed free use of a board game for the evening, which was a nice bonus.

Very nice location close to Sequoia NP entrance (close to Foothills Visitor Center). You are in the park in no time. Hotel is also conveniently located close to restaurants.

For our purposes, hotel worked fine for our family of 4. Our son slept on the futon couch (we couldn't figure out how to make into a bed) and said it was very comfortable. Plenty of extra bedding is provided. Our daughter slept in the second bedroom. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The showerhead was a bit low, but fine for me (I'm 5'4"). My husband did not wind up taking a shower since we were hiking the next day, but he would've had a hard time washing his hair probably (he's 5'9"). We've managed with similar situations, however.

Breakfast was danishes, cinnamon rolls, juice, coffee, and hot cocoa. Very basic, but at least something provided to get you on your way in the morning.

Air conditioning worked fine, though you almost wouldn't need it if you opened the windows and sliding door to deck. Nice view and nice location.

Room Tip: We got the "Penthouse," the room over the pool, which was nice. We paid a little more th...

I stayed here only one night and I thought it was pretty cute. Definitely not a luxury hotel, but if you're not high maintenance you'll be just fine. The room was clean and quiet. It is pretty close to the park entrance and a few restaurants, which is nice. About an hour drive to the Giant Forest and Moro Rock. Really homey feel to the place.

I was a little nervous because, although the place was clean, it was clearly a little old. I have asthma and was afraid of reacting to the mold or dust. I'd stayed in chain hotels earlier in the week (on a road trip) and had issues in those hotels but not here. So I hope that stands as a good testament for the cleanliness that people seem to be complaining about. No complaints from the asthmatic!

Let's start with the entrance. Entrance is one lane, uphill blind into the parking lot. Beware of other vehicles. Parking lot is tiny. A definite challenge when it comes to turning around so you can park.

Room is below average. They have an old a/c installed through the wall which was very noisy. TV was a step back into the 70's. A 20 inch tube TV with 25 channels including 6 Spanish speaking ones. Not even ESPN!

Shower is a tiny 30 x 30 enclosure. If you need to wash the lower half of your body, it would really help if you were a gymnast.

If you need to plug something in, good luck! All of the outlets are the old 2 pronged outlets although there was a power strip under the TV that used an adapter for anything with a 3 pronged plug.

Glad the room had a mini-fridge. I bought cereal and milk for breakfast because the hotel's breakfast was minimal at best. Some orange liquid that tasted like Tang and some danishes.

The one long window had louvered blinds that were ok but did not exactly keep out the light too well. Perhaps some shades would be nice.

Didn't use the pool but it is a very small one. Sufficient for an evening dip in the pool.

Four miles to the park entrance. After that, keep your eyes on the road! 16 miles to the Giant Forest with over 300 turns including about 25 10-15 mph switchback U-turns. It's even more treacherous when you leave the park! I made sure I was out of there long before dark. The scenery in Sequoia National is spectacular so try to forget about the drive, enjoy the trees, and try to stay comfortable in your room.

A clean hotel with modern amenities would do very well in Three Rivers but this isn't the place

Room Tip: Stay on the first floor to avoid hauling your stuff up a narrow spiral staircase. OR use a rope to...

Dirty: dust everywhere, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling.
Bed relatively clean, but after I spotted the dirt in the corners of the room, I was afraid to look more closely. The receptionist - condescending with a suspicious attitude.
