“One night was enough”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

Looking at it we thought it was a pretty place but we had a bad experience and thanks god it was just for one night. We were in room 2, I hope not all of the, are like this: we found the room with a strong mouldy smell and the loo was dirty and crooked. When I took a shower (I was the first one) the water coming out smelly too, even my family could smell it from the other room, just terrible. Plus the curtains were too small to cover the windows so we couldn't sleep after 7 a.m. In the evening we opened the door to let in some fresh air and a cat came in and hid under one of the beds. Would not recommend it to anyone, if u want to visit sequoia park just go to the Comfort Inn, the prices were the same!

Three Rivers is a rustic place and from the looks of the reviews on Trip Advisor, a lot of the motels are....rustic as well. When I was looking, there were high prices ($120 or more) for hotels that had many reviews talking about how dirty the rooms were, the staff is not helpful and that they would not even stay for one night.

The Sequoia Motel is not that place. It is less expensive, it is very clean, and Chris, the proprietress, was friendly and helpful. The main difference was the Sequoia Motel could not be booked online, so I had to actually pick up the phone and call to inquire about availability. And I am so glad I took that extra step rather than just booking one of the last two sketchy options available for my last minute booking!

Chris was prompt and friendly in confirming our reservation and checking us in. The room smelled very clean when we walked in and it looked clean throughout. The pool was pleasant, and the rooms were comfortable, partly because they were sort of kitschy. It's a motel - it's not fancy or upscale in any way. But, in comparing to other options in Three Rivers, none of which are upscale, nor have advanced amenities (there is little network access and wifi is not strong throughout the town), most of which cost more and all of which seem a lot sketchier in the cleanliness and customer service departments, I would suggest Sequoia Motel without hesitation.

I knew this wasn't going to be The Four Seasons, but I wasn't expecting or looking for that. I was on a throwback motorcycle trip, reliving my youth.

Nice ambiance to the grounds and buildings. Room 9, clean, TV worked, motorcycle parked literally right outside the door, cheesy plastic chairs/table to sit outside at night and enjoy a couple Fat Tires, and a clean pool steps away. Perfect.

No fridge in the room, so Chris chilled my beers in her fridge until I was ready for them at the pool after a day of riding and hiking in Sequoia/Kings Canyon. Now that is service!

Two suggestions to get to 5 Stars:
First, adding the little shampoo/conditioner bottles in the bath would be a nice touch. Shampooing with a bar of motel soap sucks.
Second, sell me the vintage 1960's coke machine that is weathering away at the end of the main building. I promise to restore it and proudly showcase it in my man cave.

Would I stay there again? Absolutely.

Stayed here as it was near Sequoia National Park. A bit pricey if you compare to your standard city hotel. Old school check in with a piece of paper and a real key. Nobody was there at checkout so we used the drop box.

This review is for Room 5 only, not attached to the main motel. The office is attached to the main motel. It took us a minute to find it as the sign is small.

The Good: This room is essentially a large studio cottage. Good room for 3. Full kitchen. The was a pull down full size bed, so this would be good for a family of 4 max with small kids. A couple of sitting chairs next to a wood burning stove. The A/C did a great job in 100 degree weather. You own parking space right next to the unit and a small porch. Decent free Wifi.

The Bad: We had an ant problem. The TV is old and had poor reception (not a big deal as we were there for the Sequoia's. I didn't see a phone in the room, but I didn't loo either. The bathroom sink is a bit small with no real counter space. Pool is small. The slow drive into the park to see the big trees is about an hour of really windy road. You may want to double check the north entrance if you are coming from Northern CA.

We stayed in Cabin 4 a two bedroom cabin. It was a bit small, especially the second bedroom, as we were two couples with a toddler each. But otherwise we loved it, the patio was awesome for a late night chat.
Even though the entrance to Sequoia is only 4 mi it takes over an hour to get to the Giant Forest Museum where most of the attractions are located. And it is a winding hard to stomach drive with hairpin bends.
Better to stay inside the park if possible. But this worked out great for us for a last minute trip plan.

The lady was super helpful and friendly. Basic utensils available in the kitchen too. No dishwasher though.

this motel is very convenient to the exit of Sequoia National Park. It's very over priced, however, with no amenities in the room. In fact, it was the priciest hotel of our trip. The sink is right in the room next to one of the beds, so you wake anyone else sleeping in the room when you use the sink. The pool was non operational as well. The proprietress was very agreeable, but you would do well to go a little farther down the road from the park exit and stay at one of the hotels available there.

Not too far from the Giant Forest, confortable and amazing rooms and very nice the swimming pool. The propretary is very gentle and helpful.
The price is not so cheap, but it's a good deal if you consider the place. Unfortunately there is no breakfast, just the coffee machine in the room.
No possible to book and check the availability on line, u have to write emails to the proprietary, but she answer very quickly.
