The Rio Sierra Riverhouse is one of a Kind! The Service is Excellent and the rooms are nice and clean. Hidden from the main road, the property fonts the Kaweah River. There is a significant amount of beach access from the property, providing excellent wading and swimming areas. There is also ample areas for picnics/brunch and barbeques, not to mention fire pits perfect for relaxing while listing to the river or even cooking s'mores. The owner was extremely friendly and accomadating - we will be back!

Room Tip: All Rooms face the River - Can't go wrong with any of them.

After a long hot day in August, of hiking in Sequoia our family was looking for some rest and relaxation and we found it here! We quickly checked in and went straight in the river. Cool, majestic, and just what we needed. We ordered take out and ate out by the river, roasted marshmallows at the fire pit, and the kids LOVED it. We all agreed to take full advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity and swam the river the next morning as well. I did a ton of research before we went and was thrilled with our choice. Worth every penny. Mars is fantastic and super sweet. We took a ton of pictures and already have our Christmas card photo, not from Sequoia but from the morning on the river at the Rio Sierra Riverhouse!

We stayed at Rio Sierra River House for 2 nights during late July to visit Sequoia NP en route from Yosemite to Las Vegas. The location by the river and the outdoor areas by the house for BBQ was perfect for a family with 3 children aged 16, 14 and 12. Swimming in the fast flowing river was pure entertainment repeated at least 3-4 times a day! The owner Margaret was friendly, attentive and very helpful in planning our visit to Sequoia NP. Preparing our own BBQ dinner was also great.
Although sleeping by and overlooking the river was a unique experience our room was not exactly up to standards one would expect paying USD175 per night. Due to high occupancy and limited rooms 2 of our children slept in a converted camper unit on the grounds which they thought was a lot of fun! Unfortunately, at USD125 per night this was highly overpriced!
In summary, an unique stay by the river, but one leaves with some disappointment on being charged quite a lot in comparison to other hotels we stayed at during our 3 week tour of the 'Great West'

Room Tip: avoid the camper or agree on a reasonable price w the owner - in advance

Once in a life time trip with the family. 8 days of fun and excitement. Last night in Califormia - the most perfect place - Rio Sierra Riverhouse - before heading to SFO and a return to the East Coast. Our 7 year old grandson rated the Rio Sierra NUMBER 1 for his favorite place to stay. (He rated the Ahwahnee number 2..). Our 11 year old grandson couldn't decide which was better! Enjoy the National Parks... then drive down from the mountains in the afternoon. The Rio Sierra Riverhouse is waiting with the relaxing sounds of the river, lounge chairs right on the water - kick back and take it easy for a bit. The grandsons helped with the evening fires... They watched the white water rafters travel down the river...and built rock statues like they saw in Yosemite. Thanks Mars.....

What a great place. My father and I stayed two nights in the Hideway , a small but well equipped trailer right beside the river and then "got moved" to the remarkably luxurious Suite. The hideway was right next to the river with outdoor table, chairs and fireplace on a little beach with the Kaweah River rushing by a few feet away. The suite was huge with 2 big beds sofas a big tv and a wrap around porch above the river. Everything in both places was clean neat and flawless. Perfect place but its made better by the hospitality of Mars, the proprietor, hostess and all around charmer who did everything to make sure our stay was perfect. The Sequoia Forest is on a very short list of "do before you die" locations but even if it wasn't there Rio Sierra Rvierhouse is a destination worth the journey.

Got the opportunity to stay in the Hideaway at Rio Sierra. Had an awesome time. The Hideaway is a travel trailer on the opposite of the main house from where the other guests hang out. Nice private area to build a fire and sit and watch the river. Only big enough for two and it gets a bit tight but worked fine for us. Mars was such a great host. She built fires each night on the main house side for those guests and we were able to hang out over in that area if we wanted and tak advantage of the high speed wireless internet(cell phones dont work well in Three Rivers) or in our private area. Place is landscaped nicely. I read so many bad reviews about places in Three Rivers so I was concerned upon arrival but my expectations were far met. I would love to go back one day. I would suggest that people who plan to visit the Parks maybe delay the trip a year or so until they complete the construction going up into the park. You end up spending some wasted time waiting to complete your trip into the park since the road for a long segment is only one lane and they let traffic through every hour. Kind of a pain but the park is beautiful and a nice relaxing time. Mars will give you advise on where to eat and what to do if you ask her. All in all I loved this trip and was so happy I chose Rio Sierra.

My Husband & I first stayed here in August, 2010 with our best friends. We loved it so much, we came back in May 2011 to experience the high water and to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. Then, we booked the entire Riverhouse plus the "Hideaway" for our four grown children plus their partners in June 2011. It turned out to be the best place for us all to stay; wading in the shallow parts of the river, sharing meals on the lawn, making s'mores at night, playing charades in the Master Suite, and hiking up in the park, everything was magical. We love everything: the accommodations; Mars the innkeeper (who now feels like a dear friend); the river; the fun restaurants in town; and the hiking in Sequoia National Park. We even saw bears for the first time in our lives, in the park, at a safe distance! We travel pretty extensively and rarely return to one place= the Rio Sierra Riverhouse is an exception.

Room Tip: Every room is special, but our favorite is the Master Suite.
