“best free apps!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

While definitely old school atmosphere, the food and service are reliable. The menu is kind of dated but the seafood is always fresh. As for the appetizers... The bean dip is soo goood you will want to skip the crackers and just dive in with your spoon. Fritters, wings, popovers are great. I dont care for the spinach pie but Greek friends like it. Desserts are forgettable. Good value with $12.95 early bird specials which include salad, starch and dessert.

“Plumbs the Very Depths of Mediocrity”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

I've dined at the Continental a few times, because members of my wife's family are extremely enamored with the place for some unfathomable reason. It's not really horrible, but nothing about it makes me want to visit the place again.
I will say that the servers are exceptional; they are friendly and do all that they can to make the dining experience pleasurable. They cannot, however, overcome the basic fact that the building is in essence a windowless bunker with no charm whatsoever. (I WILL be making every effort to secure admittance in the event of a nuclear attack, however...)
The clam chowder is excellent. Beyond that, I can't recommend the food. I've tried various entrees, and they all have two things in common:
1-They are infested with some sort of bread-crumb goo.
2-They are entirely devoid of flavor.

Bottom line: if you're in the Boston area, stick with Legal Seafood, Kelly's Clams or Turner's in Melrose.

“Thanksgiving turkey”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Thanksgiving dinner for 10. The best part was the popovers and the salad. Swordfish, scrod and turkey all very dry and overpriced. Oh well.

“Yikes! When did time standstill?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Talk about being frozen in time -- this place reeks of OLD. Old servers, serve old-style preparations, in an old interior that looks like it belongs in a restaurant makeover show. Way overpriced, unless you are a senior-citizen looking for a small-portioned "early-bird" special." Don't bother -- this bird flew south decades ago!
