The staff was very helpful and very professional. The property is older, but employees were working on the appearance of the facility. The restaurant was a disappointment, not clean and the restaurant staff catered to the male guests. Seating them for breakfast and then taking their orders and serving them. Where elderly people and women with children had to wait on themselves with no assistance from the staff.

We needed a place for an overnight on the way home from a week in Arizona for Spring Training baseball. Had a planned stop for a late lunch in Westminster/Garden Grove and wanted to be out of the LA commute traffic for our trip home on Monday 3/25. Thousand Oaks fit the ticket perfectly. The Best Western Plus Thousand Oaks Inn is just off 101. This is a historic property that dates back to the 60's but the rooms appear to have been redone pretty recently. (Another review said it perfectly "Dated but cared for facility"). Beautiful large lobby with marble floors. Wonderful friendly fellow at check-in made us feel like VIPs (older gentleman with white hair - didn't notice his name but he is a definite asset for the property).

Picked up a great tip from the Trip Advisor reviews of the property: ask for a room on an upper floor in the back of the property so you don't get the freeway noise. We did this and got room 311. It was perfect! Quiet, comfortable King bed, and lots of hot water for our morning showers.

Here's why I'm only giving 4 stars for Service:
Relatively minor quibbles: We've never come across a microwave we couldn't work but this one defied us. As we were only there for the night, we didn't bother making a request for help. I mentioned it at check-out and was told that you have to press the "start" button in exactly the center as they are "touchy". So they know there's a problem. Should be taken care of...

Second quibble: The "hot breakfast" that they claim is worth $10 isn't... Yes, it's hot, sort of. Over cooked scrambled eggs and 2 sad slices of bacon (there were 2 other choices but this seemed to be the best). Self-serve bagels, bread to toast, mediocre pastries, yogurt, bananas, apples, oranges, oatmeal, cold cereal, coffee and tea. So maybe it's worth $10 but I don't really think it is. Note: there is a full bar/restaurant that serves in the evenings that we didn't try).

Aside from these couple of things, it was definitely worth the $112 we paid and made the last leg of our trip home to the SF Bay Area quite pleasant. We'd stay there again!

Room Tip: 311: 3rd floor at the back of the property away from the freeway noise!

Pros:
Nice and helpful staff, easy access to freeway, slightly outdated furnishings but still nice, ample parking (safe), nice cook-to-order items for breakfast (included).
Cons:
Although the location has easy access to the 101 freeway, that does cause extra noise for light sleepers (not too bad).

on a recent late night drive, I just had to rest...no rooms available at 5 different upper end hotels in the area...I decided to try just once more about 2 miles away & they had ONE room left! The guy who answered was kind enough to take my personal info so I could expedite the check in process when I arrived - the process was very easy & quick - I got into the room within minutes of my arrival, the room was easily accessible, very clean, quiet, & I had a fast hot breakfast included in the rate, a free local paper, & hot coffee to go! :} I will definitely be back! Good old fashion customer service & satisfaction has its rewards! After a good night's sleep, I actually was pleasantly surprised to view a beautiful courtyard & a pool as I walked out of my room! Nice!

Room Tip: I asked for quiet....even on the main floor...it was truly quiet! :)

Very welcoming, helpful staff. Dated but cared for facility. Attached restaurant very handy and good tapa type choices. Good breakfast. Again, pleasant staff at restaurant and an enjoyable singer/guitar live at dinner time.

This hotel desperately needs a makeover. Everything is old and nothing matches from room to room. Even in the lobby their is a variety of carpeting. The carpet in the room was accordianed and wasn't laying flat....like there had been a flood in there. The room smelled moldy. The bathroom was very clean but the bottom of the bathtub was separating from the tub...it felt like you were standing on a bubble. Don't think this measures up as a "Plus" hotel.

On a positive note...the hotel is in a great location. The breakfast at the hotel was good.

Good clean rooms - close to freeway - usual Best Western quality standard - very helpful staff - excellent and substantial hot breakfast. Would stay again if in the area. Only slight down point was that front rooms could have traffic noise when freeway busy.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the property can be subject to some traffic noise.
