Our Review Team has good and BAD news: First the good: The lobby was bright and clean, the jets in the indoor hot tub/whirlpool worked just fine, and there was plenty of places to park.

Now for the Downside and the reason for only two stars: The eggs tasted like the cardboard container from which they were no doubt poured. The Direct tv digital transmission was frequently either pixilated, or just not there. There was one chair, that looked out of place like someone had bought a computer chair from a chain store, used it for too long and then dumped it off next to the dumpster in the parking lot of this Comfort Inn and an employee of the hotel thought 'Hey, why buy a decent motel room chair when I can have tis one for free." No exaggeration, the arms of the chairs looked like the foam rubber and it faux leather cover were at war and the foam rubber was winning.

But that wasn't the worse part. I was sitting on the bed in front of the TV, next to the bedside table with my head resting on the headboard. And when I pulled my head away from the headboard, some of my hair stuck to the wood. "This isn't right!" I thought . So I wet a rag and wiped down the wood with moderate pressure, and Oh My Goddess, years of ugly brown goo came off on the rag. So like a good customer I knew that the management would need to know about this serious oversight. BOY WAS I WRONG!

The female desk person muttered "Oh...sorry." And that was it. She moved on to the next customer. The shift manager who was hiding behing his computer, within earshot, said nothing. I don't blame him. I'd be speechlessly embarrased too.

My advice? Just don't go to this motel. I won't. There are just too many other choices in one of the country most scenic vacation spots.

Good location - pet friendly - clean room. Complimentary breakfast was enjoyable and always nice to have when traveling. A must visit is to The Plaza - check out the unique shops and restaurants. We enjoyed dinner at The Ranch across Cerrillos from the hotel - but you'll have to drive there. This is a new restaurant to the area and our meal was very good, especially the ribs. So tender and tasty!

Just finished a 4 day stay in 2 of the mini-suites w/our kids. Rooms are so nicely clean and quiet. Wonderful pool and hot tub indoors. Had a rattle in the air conditioner that kept us awake the 1st night. Told front desk next day, and in 30 minutes they had installed a brand new air conditioner in our room...now that's service! The staff is so accommodating and at your service...there are none like them. We've been staying in this Comfort Inn every summer as a family for the past 25 years...we wouldn't stay anywhere else. We feel like it is a treasure of a place to stay. It is clean, comfortable and very reasonably priced. It is close to mall and the outlet mall for great shopping. You will not be close to the Plaza downtown, but it is no big deal to drive to it.

When we walked into the hotel hallway, then the room, we noticed this was an older hotel. Side glass windows were missing from doors, carpets worn and a strong odor of cleaners to try to cover up the smells was in the room. We didn't care for the room including the layout because it was a single room suite instead of 2 separate rooms. We also ended up in a lower floor room where the door side entryway was viewable outside our window with cars driving up and other guests entering the hotel.The breakfast was ok and the beds were comfortable.

Regarding the hotel staff, after we left the hotel to go to our next destination we discovered our teenager had left her $200 Dr Dre headphones in a drawer in the room. When we called the 1st time the front desk put us briefly on hold, came back on and said nothing was left in the room. Our daughter called back the next day herself and was told by the front desk they would check and have the manager call us back. She left the cell phone number for the manager to call. Several days later, no call. When my husband called back and asked for the manager he was unavailable. This time he did call back and told my husband he talked to the manager of housekeeping and there was nothing left in the room. The biggest complaint about this issue, even though we would have liked to get the headphones back, was the lack of caring and responsiveness from the hotel staff. We plan to go back to Santa Fe within the year but we won't stay here.
