“Best Place for a Family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2009

The hotel was really great for a family of 4. The added room of a suite really allowed us to stretch out. When we arrived, the maintenance man was fixing the shower curtain in our room. He quickly completed the job and we enjoyed very comfortable beds, a refrigerator, and the extra room that a suite offers. The kids loved the pool too, although it could have been heated a tad more. Breakfast offered several choices and variety from day to day. The desk staff was helpful with information and recommendations. Well worth the rate, which was about the same as other local hotels that did not have suites.

The rooms were not bad but there was a problem with the water pipes that woke everyone close to me up. It is a known problem it seems. I saw some other reviews that mention it, so it's not just me.

The problem was that the pipes shook loudly. At 3:00 AM in the morning or so. So, I can't recommend it. I tried to discuss this with the manager but they did not acknowledge that it was a problem. Anyway, thought I'd share this.

Pretty much what you would expect from a hotel of this level. Bathroom was clean, bed was comfortable but the floor always looked as if it needed more vacuuming. Or maybe it's just the way the carpet is supposed to look.
During our 4 day stay, I talked to 3 different people behind the main desk & they were all very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was so so. There is only 1 waffle iron so there is a long wait if you want a waffle. The eggs were yellow disks and the sausage patty was brown disks. The rest of our stay we ate out since there are so many great restaurants in SFe.
There were 4 adults in the room and with 2 double beds & a sofa bed, there was a lot of room to move around.
I was visiting my daughter at the College of Santa Fe. With the major construction on Cerillos, I took Cerillos going to the school & Rodeo going back to the hotel.
Santa Fe is a small city so getting around anywhere is easy and about a 15 min. drive to The Plaza and Canyon Road.

Our room was spacious, well-maintained, the staff was helpful and polite, there was a great breakfast included in the price, about a third of what we would expect to pay in the city center for comparable accommodations. The only downside was that there was extensive, and poorly planned, road construction on Cerrillos, causing horrendous traffic jams. We ate at Adelita's (an excellent Mexican restaurant) that was just across the street a block down, and it took us 20 minutes to get there! If it hadn't been storming, we would've walked. Hotel is a few miles from the city center.

After having spent less money at a Hyatt Summerfield Suites in Denver which was way nicer, it's hard to write more than a mediocre review of the Comfort Suites. If there was a 2.5 star option, I'd use that instead of 3 star.

For Santa Fe, the price was good. The furnishings are worn (tears on the sofa cushions, somewhat worn-looking carpet.) The tub had some cracks and the grout around the faucet needs fixing. The bed was ok, but the pillows were just awful. They were not a normal size, maybe half size, and provided no support whatsoever.

The breakfast was mediocre, too, but since it's free, I can't really complain. The make-your-own waffle was nice. other than that it was cold cereal and bagels and danishes.

It was ok for one night, but if you are staying longer, I'd go elsewhere.

The outside appearance of the Comfort Suites is nice. We were able to park close to the entrance. I didn't realize how busy Cerrillos Road would be and there was construction going on also. The carpet in the room had not been vacuumed. However, the carpet throughout the hotel looked warn and filthy. The room was nice, we didn't not get a suite, but a regular room with two queen beds. The room seemed small to me and the furnishings looked cheap. The tub was cracked and looked dirty. The bathroom was really small. We did not use the pool, however, you had to go through the pool area to get to the fitness room. The fitness room was very small with three pieces of exercise equipment jammed into the room. There was not a tv in there like most places I've been, only an a/c that was leaking so much they put towels down on the floor. I noticed the outside hot tub was drained and not working. The breakfast area was small for the amount of people there on a Saturday morning.

Comfort Inn is generally always a nice place to stay and this property was not exception. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff very polite. This is not downtown Santa Fe, but we didn't want to stay downtown. Arriving by car, we found it much more convenient to get a place where we can easily park and then get around town to stores and various restaurants.
