“Reasonable place - a bit far from Downtown”

Fairfield Inn Santa Fe

Jul 22, 2008

Got this last minute on a Fri night arranged by a person at the Santa Fe Airport...It's not a bad place to stay on a budget (around $100). The room was clean, bed was reasonably comfortable.. A computer was available at the front desk and the internet connection was free.. They had a nice breakfast selection. For example, you could microwave an "Egg McMuffin" like packaged product which is more than is usually available at these type places.. The only complaint is that it is in a bit of a remote location. Blue Corn Cafe is about the only good restaurant nearby. It's probably a 10 min drive to get into the downtown area which is where all sites and good restaurants are. Next trip I'd book something in the downtown area which allows you to be in walking distance of the shops and restaurants.. Of course that will cost more..

I visited Santa Fe and stayed at the Fairfield inn by Marriot for a week in June 2008.
Everything was just great. The staff, the cleanliness of the room, the bathroom. A microwave and frig. with a great T.V.
The breakfast. and the availability of the internet service all the time at no charge. A great surprise was that at a very short walking distance is a Mall and a movie theatre.
The room price is reasonable. You also have a coffee maker and coffee bags in your room.
This is way better than any of the 5 stars hotels I ever stayed in.

“Undergoing Renovation”

Hotel was undergoing renovation when I stayed here, so that was a drag. Hotels should let people know when they are renovating when you make you reservation. Room was OK and Front Desk staff were friendly & helpful. Continental Breakfast was OK.

We had a very nice stay here and would return. The room was a little tight for the four of us, especially the vanity/bathroom area, but we managed. A nice plus was the microwave and refridgerator in the room. The t.v. was a nice one and the beds were definitely a step above average. Each of us had 2 pillows, a soft one and firm one to choose from. Two bottles of water and cookies were left for us, which took us a day or two to figure out it was complimentary. I was dreading the location as it is a ways from the plaza, but this never bothered us at all. Traffic on Cerrillos at around 5pm can be slow, but otherwise we got where we wanted pretty quickly. There are many restaurants and stores on Cerrillos too. Tecolote, The Pantry, Bumble Bee, Blue Corn, etc.. The front desk staff always had a welcoming smile to greet you with. There is a computer available in the lobby also. We ended up saving our calories and money and ate breakfast at the hotel. This also saved us time. It is an expanded continental, with cereal, make your own waffles that looked good, a toaster for bagels, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, friut and nice cold milk. We would bring it up to our room and watch the news before starting our day. It is in the same parking lot as Mervyns, Dillards, and a small mall, which is convenient in case you've forgotten anything on your trip. My daughter actually bought her Prom dress at Dillards. We know she'll have a unique dress now! We had the friendliest service there by Susan, the readhead with all the Indian jewelry. This hotel met all our needs. We would stay here again.

Extremely friendly staff. No problem to check in early (<11am). Was given a nice renovated room with LCD TV and a comfortable king-size bed (facing the plaza, so no noise from the street at all). Nice continental breakfast and free high speed internet. Should definitely be a 3-star hotel!
