“Good for small families, get 2 rooms if kids are big”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

We had planned to camp, but decided that wouldn't work this time, so looked for a hotel that would give us more than the typical cheap family motel, where we always feel like we're paying for more than we get. The Double Tree was a good choice. The only negative could be that the rooms and bathroom sink area are small. The 2 beds are double beds, not queens. The sink area is just a single sink, not much counter space. That could be an issue if you're traveling with teens. We were only traveling with an 11 year old, so it worked great for us. There is no free breakfast at this hotel, but our room had a larger-than-usual frig and a microwave, and they worked well and were quiet (frig was inside a cupboard),saved us lots of $$ on breakfasts. There is room service, which we didn't use. The hotel has a very nice lobby with fireplace, good for relaxing at night or for reading the paper, drinking coffee (free) in the morning while waiting for your family to wake up. Rooms have patios or small balcony's, some on the ground floor open to the parking lot. We had a 4th floor room, felt very secure. The best part for kids is the pool- it's two small pools connected by a channel which passes into and out of the hot tub area. Windows all around, so parents in the tub can do a decent job keeping an eye on the kids in the pool. Small but a lot of fun.
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful- they accommodated our early arrival, supplied us with items we didn't bring along (shaving cream, etc), gave us many very good recommendations for restaurants. Location: a few doors down the road from Target and Albertson's grocery store, Sonic burger, Panera, S'bucks. Near the south end of town so if you're returning from a daytrip to Taos, etc, you can take the bypass and avoid traffic. Easy 10 mn drive to downtown. Decent rate online with a good cancellation policy.

Room Tip: Some rooms are ground floor and open to the parking lot. That could be great for easy access to your...

The room was very nice and clean, the overall facility is nice and the staff was great. Felt very secure and comfortable. Easy to get to from I-25. Only negative is the sliding glass door to the balcony did not seal well, and when the wind would gust there was a whistling noise that woke us up a few times.

Average hotel. Clean but small rooms have stayed at hotels for the same price that seemed nicer. Fitness facitly was clean and up to date with equipment but small and hot and looks over into a mall parking lot. Was construction outside starting very early so woke up three hours earlier than I wanted to.

everything was great only complaint is the elevator is extremely slow, didnt get a chance to check out the bar or restaurant too many other place to go in Santa Fe. Great hotel thought rooms were well appointed, internet was good and free. Seemd to be just enough parking also. Pool area seemed inviting, but didnt get a chance to check it out this time.

The hotel is neat and clean, the rooms are very very small, no counter space to speak of in the bathroom, The room I had is definitely not for larger people. The hotel staff are courteous and helpful. The internet service is poor. No complementary breakfast was disappointing. Location to the city center is a bit far but not unacceptable.

Hi Farrenjw,
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel, I was happy to read your comments about the cleanliness of our hotel and the courteousness of our staff. I am very sorry that our complimentary high speed internet and size of our double rooms didn't meet your expectations. I understand you have a lot of choices in the area and I hope that you might give us another chance on a future visit to Santa Fe.

I originally reserved our room requesting a quiet room. They had put us on the 2nd floor and promised us it would be quiet. The first night it was but the second night there was a reception right under our room. The music resonated in our room, we tried to change rooms but was told they were 100% filled. We are very upset and wouldn't stay here again.

Hi Pamela W,
Thank you for your review of our hotel, I am sorry we did not do more to make sure the room we selected would be quiet for your entire stay. I have shared your comments with my front office team so we can improve our services. This is not normal for our hotel and I hope you will choose to give us another chance on a future visit.

Staff was courteous and helpful, room was clean and quiet. Enjoyed the experience so much that we will stay at the DoubleTree again for future trips to Santa Fe. This is what I expect from the DoubleTree family of residences and was not disappointed.
