“Nice place to stay in Santa Fe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

We travel with our dog and this hotel was very accomodating. There is a fenced area in back to let them run off leash. The room was OK although we were in a pet room (the carpet was not cleaned thoroughly so there was dog hair and old pretzels etc in the corners) The surfaces of the furniture were grimy with dirt even though overall the room looked OK. It was when we checked out that I realized how the place could have used a good wipe down. The sheets etc were clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean. I can't tell you how nice it was to relax by the pool while my daughter played in the water. The pool is really a nice one with a great room. It has a shower and a hot tub and was very clean. The hotel is also a far from town center (about 10 minutes drive) but that was not a problem for us. I would recommend this hotel but check out the cleanliness of the pet room before you unpack your bag!

Room Tip: Ask to see the room first and check the corners for dust bunnies!

Thank you very much for your review. We are glad you chose our hotel during your recent stay in Santa Fe and we apologize for the housekeeping problems you experienced. Unclean rooms are not typical at our hotel and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We will make every effort to ensure our rooms meet the highest housekeeping standards. As you also mentioned, we do have a great indoor pool and hot tub.

We always stay at this Hampton Inn when we are in Santa Fe. The location is convenient to downtown. The rooms are clean and spacious. The beds are comfortable. The breakfast is the same fare as most competitors, but served up by really nice people. The internet connection is good. We have had good luck over the years with this Hampton Inn and will continue going back in the future.

This Hampton Inn is not far from the main downtown plaza and railyard. There was easy access to the hotel and it is easy to find. The staff makes this hotel excel! I found whoever was at the front desk helpful with directions, recommendations and always efficient. The breakfast in the morning was fresh, the hot food hot, the milk cold and the coffee good. The dining area was kept clean and wiped down even with many people rotating through.

Typical for a Hampton Inn. Nice front desk service and a good restaurant suggestion. Breakfast in the morning had a good selection. Not as close to the square/shopping/mountain as I'd expected, but 10 minutes from just about anywhere in the city.

Room Tip: make sure you clarify if you want smoking or non-smoking as I was given a smoking room in error, but...

On the good side, the Hampton Inn is a ten-minute drive from the Plaza but their rates are one-third the price of staying near the Plaza. It's a good place for families with its free breakfast.

The downside is that the hotel still has smoking rooms. The second floor has around 50 rooms, with only four of them smoking. However, the nights we stayed a guest in one of the smoking rooms left the door to his room open to the hallway, probably in an effort to reduce the effect of second-hand smoke on his own children. (His children were quite lively...they made the stay less than quiet.) The entire hallway reeked of smoke. Until Hilton joins Marriott and Starwood in making all its properties smoke-free, I plan to avoid Hilton properties (including Hampton Inn) at all costs.

The wireless Internet was the slowest I've experienced since dial-up days. Download speeds were only around 100 kbps. (The typical home broadband speed is 5000 kpbs or more.) I was unable to use Skype, or even stream *audio*.

Room Tip: Avoid staying near the smoking rooms.

Thank you for the review; we really appreciate your time. We utilize guests’ reviews to assess insights within our hotel operations and we have reviewed your feedback with the hotel team and we looked at the internet problems in order to make sure this issue does not happen again. We found that we currently have AT&T and century-link providing internet to our guests for a faster and more reliable connection. We exceed the Hampton standards for speed internet. We also have an upgrade coming up for internet soon which should help with any current issues. I appreciate your time in reviewing our hotel and look forward to seeing you during your next visit to the area.

Helpful and enthusiastic staff, beautiful rooms with everything you need, and the best complimentary breakfast I've ever had. Convenient access from freeway. Beware of the map they provide - it's cautionary "not to scale" is an understatement. There is no room service but you can order food from the in-house kitchen and pick it up in the lobby.

We stayed here for a quick overnight. The hotel and room was clean. The laundry area was adequate although the machines were dates and one was broken. The hotel was in a good area and the staff was friendly and helpful.
