“Wow! I can't believe the bad reviews!”

This is my favorite hotel in Santa Fe! They have always disclosed the extra fees, such as parking & resort, etc beforehand. But I have always made my reservation directly. If you made your reservations thru a discount website and tried to cheap out, too bad for you if you feel it wasn't up to expectations!!!! I have stayed here 5 times for at least 10 days at a time and have never had a bad experience. I find the need to defend this hotel because of the criticism, it's just not fair!!! PS to Tom the mgr...take this hotel off the discount websites, that's where the biggest problem comes from!

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony but expect to pay extra

Green Features: Many...check their website,,,,If you have a hybrid car, ask for a parking discount. Sheets & Towels are changed every 4 days, or before, but only at your request.

We had the good fortune to arrive at the hotel very late with a guaranteed very special reservation and found the hotel full. Apologetically they gave us the penthouse suite. It was spectacular in every way....decor, views, amenities, artwork. Perfect for a celebration where one needs to invite 20 people or more. Beautiful terraces, wonderful light. My husband was sick the entire stay but I kept saying: if you have to be sick, what better place to do it. (We need a rain check.) The hotel's restaurant Luminaria was sophisticated and meals delicious. Our daily room service breakfasts were terrific. I loved the fruit plate and the yoghurt with fruit. We had a kiva with plentiful wood supply so we felt pampered. The location was superb, and perfect for walking to all the downtown sites. The staff at the front desk was very committed to making our stay enjoyable and I thank them all for their good humor and helpful information.

Stayed here for a long weekend with our toddler and baby. Stellar location! Walked everywhere. Rooms are nice, nothing amazing but clean and cozy. Bathroom updated. Our room had a terrace/rooftop access with a table and chairs set up. It wasn't private, but we were the only people outside. Nice to put kids to bed and have an extra room of sorts to sit and chat and have a glass of wine while still being able to see and hear the kids! Staff were all nice, luminaria restaurant is delish. Great deal on living social website.

Room Tip: Had outdoor space

Very cute, nice place to stay! Close to nice restaurants, shops and sight seeing! We booked last minute, and they were very accommodating to our needs. Staff was friendly and welcoming, lots of shopping in the hotel.

So, its nuanced...I've read some of the other reviews and it's true--the valet parking at $21/nt is a rip (and expect to tip on top of that), but the guys serving are sweethearts. Yes, the kiva's aren't working ones where you can light a fire, and indeed, the rooms are small, and the heaters noisy, waking us on the hour--disappointing; and yes, the $15/day Resort fee is a valuless add-on...Despite all of that, we had a great time. The place has historic charm, warm ambience and décor, a great location (as do a bunch of other hotels), and the most hospitable, welcoming staff imaginable. From the valet guys, to the front desk, to the restaurant and lounge, everyone was wonderful, so--Thank You and Happy New Year! We'll be back.

Room Tip: Deluxe King minimum. 4th flr north-facing has great views, but the St Francis Basilica's bells w...

Green Features: Very innovative! If you opt out of daily maid service, you are rewarded with a $5 gift card/day, good at the restaurant or lounge. Very cool; they bought us breakfast the last day.

The first email arrived -- "Your feedback is important!" ...well, no...really. It would be embarrassing for both of us. Again, another email "Please give us your feedback!" Well, ok, if you insist. My family's experience was terrible...hotel was a major clunker. We made a late reservation during the holiday break for one night at the Inn. Arrived to find a jammed parking lot, so stacked with cars that we were 10 minutes in the street before we saw any sign of a valet. Finally slogged our way through the masses to the front desk to find, just like Joseph and Mary, that there was no room for us at the Inn...but Joseph and Mary didn't have Amex confirmation. We did. So the lovely person at the front desk, after several trips "to the back", told us "we're sold out...but we'll honor your reservation." Gee, thanks! Asked for a roll-away bed for my child. Returned from dinner...no roll-away. Tried the concierge but felt strangely invisible standing in front of her for several minutes without even an acknowledgment as she talked to other frustrated guests on the phone. But wait, there's more. There's a $15 "resort fee" that includes wi-fi...only it never worked...anywhere in the hotel. "We're so sorry about the wifi...we're refunding the resort fee"....Hah! Didn't happen. Would have been a nice thought though. Only two towels in the room. Called housekeeping for more. One hour later decided two towels were enough. Just as the last family member finished...knock, knock...towels sir! This would all be fine if we were staying at the Staybridge Suites. But the famous Inn and Spa at Loretto? Yikes. Clearly the hotel was slammed with guests ... but Christmas/News Years is not exactly a surprise holiday. It's on all the calendars. You should hire enough people to uphold your reputation...and my reservation. And next time a guest doesn't immediately write you glowing missives, maybe you'll know why.

Booked a room at the Inn for a post-NYE trip to Santa Fe. The hotel has a welcoming entrance and, if you drove to Santa Fe, you'll be greeted by their valet staff. Although, the price of the valet service is a bit steep at $21/day. There is no obvious valet stand, so you kind of have to wait around until you see a valet guy, so it's not the most organized valet service. That being said, the valet guys themselves were super nice. Check in was easy. Once in the room, however, I found it a bit lacking. Our corner room was super dark, barely benefiting from light coming in french doors which opened out to a common patio. Don't get fooled by what appears to be a private patio in the online photos, which some rooms appear to have, but not all (or, at least in our case, ours or those on our floor, which was the 2nd floor). Also, please note the other reviews, which I wish I had read here, that indicate the fireplaces are not actual fireplaces. The hotel has placed candles in them, so I guess there's a "glow." But it was a bit of a let down. The room and bathroom were a bit dated and things looked like they could benefit from a deep-clean (dust in the grate for the heating/cooling system was pretty thick). It struck me as a fairly old building (the walls looked like they had been patched and painted several times through the years). Otherwise, however, the room was very comfortable. The location was likely one of the hotel's best features. It was lovely to be able to walk to restaurants for dinner, etc. Overall, it was a decent place, but I think I'd likely check out another property the next time I'm in Santa Fe.

Green Features: The hotel did offer recycling. Plastic bottles and cans could be placed in bins near the ice machine which we really appreciated.
