“Fine place in most ways with some hitches”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2014

We liked staying here....the good: excellent staff, outstanding location, good bar service, good coffee available in the morning, comfortable beds & soft linens. The not so good: we inquired a bout upgrades and received two - we were told. Our "better" room was on the 4th floor with a balcony and fireplace - or as we discovered a shared balcony and large candle. Can't imagine what the original room was like. Heating system was very, very loud and outdated and there was a lack of outlets. Again, room was fine, but needs some updates. They also nickel and dime a bit - cleaning fees are added to bill, only valet parking, also an internet fee. We booked a winter wonderland package - not intentionally, but got a $50 credit toward the bar and a tree ornament.

This is an exceptional location when visiting Santa Fe - close to the square allowing its guests the ability to walk to shopping and dining. The rooms are big and well decorated, has a top-notch staff that go out of their way to take care of the guests.

Room Tip: Just go with the flow and enjoy yourself

We enjoyed the Inn and Spa at Loretto. The staff was friendly and helpful. My mom, daughter, sister and I shared a two bedroom suite which was very spacious. The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. We had spa treatments and that is where this place becomes special. The treatment rooms were great. Kelley is the best! She couldn't not have made our spa day any better. She was helpful and possibly one of the kindest, most caring and sweetest people I have ever met. Thanks for a very pleasant stay.

I have stayed here every December for the last 4 years, each time for at least a week, the last time in Dec '13 for 11 days and I highly recommend it. The staff is great, the location is fabulous just a block and a half off the Plaza. The farolitos make the hotel even more beautiful at holiday time. Do ask for a room with a balcony, not all rooms have them. One minor complaint...the daily newspaper is USA Today rather than the local paper. I don't expect NYT or WSJ, but by the weekend the paper is old. Say hello to Marcel in the Luminaria for me! He provides great service and will remember you. Their quotes for stays have always been exact.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony

Green Features: Excellent. If you need or want new towels or sheets on a daily basis, they will provide if you ask, otherwise they wisely try to conserve as much water as possible. If you drive a hybrid car to park there, they will give you free parking.

We called the day of arrival to confirm our check in time, and were told our room was already ready (4 hours early). We checked in smoothly, and when we stated we were there to celebrate our birthdays, the staff upgraded our room and gave us complimentary drink coupons. The room (with a tiny private balcony, but big enough for two people) was cozy and warm. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever stayed in. The room was furnished with 2 robes (hard to leave without taking one with us!) and plenty of extras (cotton balls, Q-tips, soap, conditioner, etc.). After shopping all day (easy walk to everything), we lounged in the hotel "living room' by the fire on a comfy leather sofa and sipped Mexican White Chocolate Martinis (highly recommend) while listening to a live performance by Matthew Andre- outstanding singer/guitar player. Honestly felt like I was in some romantic-comedy made for TV! On our second day we enjoyed an amazing 3-hour spa experience. Wonderful "private" elevator that took us from our floor directly to the spa so we didn't have to walk through the hotel in our robes. The hot stone massage was perfection! The sound of the bells from the nearby cathedral just piled on the charm. We dined at the hotel restaurant the 2nd night and were treated to a complimentary champagne toast. Checkout was as easy as check-in was. The only thing about the entire experience that was less than perfect was the award-winning tortilla soup in the restaurant. The broth was great, but the chicken was dry. I didn't try to return it, but I am sure I would have been accommodated had I tried.

Room Tip: We stayed in a corner room on the 4th floor. Very quiet, but the window faced due East, so morning c...

This is my second trip to Santa Fe in as many years and because the experience at the Inn and Spa at Loretto was so good last year I did not hesitate to book my stay at the property again. I made the correct decision. Though the service was good last year, it seemed even better this time around. Every member of the staff was extremely courteous and made us feel welcome and valued. As always the hotel bar is the perfect place for evening cocktails with its fireplace and cozy, welcoming southwest charm. The rooms all seem to have the same southwest theme and this time I was treated to one with a large balcony with a table and two chairs which was enjoyable. Also on this stay the bathroom was much larger and updated like the one during the last stay. I have no doubt that The Inn and Spa at Loretto is the perfect place for a weekend stay in Santa Fe.

Jan. 1-3, 2014.
Hotel was under staffed. At check-out our bill was $68 more than expected. Not huge, just annoying. A fee of $14 was charged per day for "guest services" a bogus add on that was not mentioned when booking the room. Not sure how much we benefitted from the extra charge. Room was small, but comfortable. As a frequent visitor to Santa Fe, there are much better accommodations for the money.
