“Good and bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We (2 couples) decided to treat ourselves to 3 nights here whilst on our 2 week fly drive holiday. We were tempted by the claim of a luxurious hotel in a good location so we could explore Sante Fe. The location is excellent, just a few minutes walk from the centre, the room was very nice, the staff very friendly and helpful (mostly) and the grounds extensive with good facilities. We only had one breakfast there which was very good albeit a little pricy and the lovely bar was very welcome at the end of a day of sight seeing.

But our stay was marred by a series of simple things that should never have been:
There was no creamer for the coffee on arrival, both parties asked for it twice and still nothing happened. Only on the third time of asking were we given some. When I asked about this at check out I was told they already knew about this problem and we're trying to deal with it. How hard can it be?
The safe in one of the rooms was not working and we asked for it to be fixed – nothing happened.
One of the luggage racks was broken – does no one routinely check room facilities?
The cold water in the room came out hot, yes hot, and we had to run the tap for ages before it was cold but at least we could read a sign saying save water for the planet.
The lighting in the room was very dim; it may add to atmosphere but does not help when reading something.
You may think the room rate is reasonable but don't forget the room charges to be added, namely State tax, Occupancy tax, Resort Service fee, Miscellaneous Sales tax. I know taxes and fees were extra when we booked but it makes you think when these taxes come to an additional 36% of the room charge. We didn't experience that sort of extra anywhere else nor indeed in any other hotel in any other country we have visited, and we are very well traveled.
The door to the fridge cabinet fell off when opening.
The notepad was not refilled and remained empty during our stay.
Very limited space to hang our clothes – it seems style is more important than practicality.
On our last day the room make service did not arrive until 4.45pm just as we were returning from a day sightseeing. When we raised this we were told we should have requested an early room service. That would be our fault then!

None of the single problems is a major factor but added together and with the dismissive attitude of staff when raised suggests there is a significant lack of care, not something you would expect in a self proclaimed luxury hotel.

So our treat was good but spoilt by stunningly lackadaisical service and high extra charges. I'm sure the manager will come up with a corporate excuse for this but the point is they shouldn't have to in the first place. My other reviews for hotels on this trip have been very positive but this hotel manages to be good and hopeless at the same time but perhaps the word manage is the wrong one here.

We booked this inn for one night only, after a three day stay in ABQ. What a beautiful spot, the buildings are old and very pueblo, decorated nicely using the charm of the adobe structures.the room was very clean and well kept. the bed was super comfortable, and even with our room very near the pool it was quiet and private. The grounds are landscaped with some beautiful plants and trees. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Arriving late afternoon and hungry we were served a wonderful lunch in the bar. We will be staying at La Posada de Santa Fe on our next visit to Santa Fe!

This hotel is in a fantastic location plus they have a free shuttle/SUV that will get you around the downtown area. Nice perk. The overall look and feel of the hotel is lovely. The rooms themselves need sprucing up. Furniture is worse for the wear and why have a nice fireplace with only one comfortable chair in front of it? Service was hit or miss. I was treating my mom to a 70th birthday getaway and had paid for flowers, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in my package to be there on arrival to surprise her. When we checked in- Nada! Dissappointing. Called front desk and asked them to deliver while we grabbed dinner but came back to just the flowers. Had to call again. Folks in management...it's the little things that really give you a black eye. Five star resort should not make mistakes- twice! A few other similar service issues happened which just shows me that they need to spruce up service as much as the room interiors. However, the breakfast that was included was excellent, hearty and the service was friendly so it deserves 5 stars.

Staff was extremely nice; concierge very helpful recommending restaurants; spa services were excellent; meeting rooms and functions handled well; WiFi service extremely poor for a hotel of this quality; housekeeping staff had to be prompted to replace soap and toilet paper; shuttle around town via staff driven SUV a terrific amenity; close to everything without being in the center of town; walkable to shops, museums, restaurants, etc.; despite the creaky bedroom floors, all in all a wonderful experience.

Thank you for telling us about your visit. I apologize for the wifi service. Apparently the adobe walls really play havoc with internet service. We have a major upgrade underway so it will be much better on your next visit. We agree about the shuttle service. It is a great amenity particularly here in Santa Fe where parking can be a challenge.

Santa Fe is so full of great food, shopping and museums but just around the corner from the plaza is an oasis. Fires in your own kiva at night were a treat. Quiet is everywhere along with the most polite friendliest service. Sam the surly bartender was the only off putting person on the property. My third stay and won't be my last. Stay in your robe all day eat great stuff and spend private time outdoors or in the lavender steam. Just what the anti stress dr ordered.

While the hotel is beautiful and the staff is courteous and helpful, both stays here involved loud wedding parties with music until midnight. Not a good mix if a good nights sleep is desired. I am surprised the walls can handle the noise level because mine were vibrating!

Room Tip: If you want to sleep stay elsewhere

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your visit to La Posada. We apologize that wedding groups impacted the enjoyment of your stay. We've reminded our team to be cognizant of this when assigning room numbers. We have many rooms that are situated away from our function venues and this should have been where we placed you.

Great location....
A wonderful property centrally located. Down a quiet street. Our apartment was very nice. Seating area nice leather chairs refrigerator, desk and fire place. Bedroom with king bed, good closet space and drawers with large flat screen...the staff is attentive and considerate. We arrived at 3pm and room wasn't ready till after 4 so with a little discussion we got a few perks. Which I thought was appropriate. Wine and apps in lobby for HH and an adequate patio. I'd stay again for sure.
