“Great stay, great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011

We wanted to stay in the historic district, which really paid off -- easy to walk everywhere. If you pick a hotel south of the downtown, you are in Anywhere USA with strip malls and nothing scenic nor out of the ordinary. In the downtown area, you can take in the shopping, dining and history without using your car. The staff, especially Suzanne and Brian, made us feel very welcome. You can tell they like where they work. Everyone we encountered was very professional and ready to serve. We enjoyed the large room, the pool and spa, and the kiva fireplace, which is poolside.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the pool.

Older hotel in a great location for downtown shopping and touring. Walking distance from most everything. Safe, secure parking lot. Friendly staff and hotel security. Dated room, but clean and well kept. I had a sliding glass door with a balcony overlooking the outdoor pool and hot tub. Guest were mannered and I didn't hear any noise from outside, even with keeping my sliding door open all night to enjoy the cool breeze of the outside air. The breakfast was disappointing. They must have been understaffed as many tables were unclean and there was a lack of food items on the buffet. Even the lobby at the main entrance of the hotel was enjoyable to sit and read or just watch people pass through. Highly recommend

My husband and I recently traveled to Santa Fe for a wedding with our one-year old son. We didn't want to rent a car, so accessibility to the downtown was important. We were able to walk everywhere from the hotel including the Canyon Road section. When we arrived late at night after a long day of traveling, the desk clerk Brian told us our reservation through Expedia had been cancelled. Seeing the baby and our faces, he immediately told us not to worry and said he could get us a room. We ended up getting a better rate since I am military and we were in a room in no time. The hotel itself was lovely, with a spacious room big enough for the pack n' play they provided us. The only thing the room needed, for us anyway, was a refrigerator for my son's milk. We made due with the ice bucket. There is an outdoor pool if you go when it is warm enough. The daily breakfast buffet was included as part of our package and was wonderful: a mix of the staple hot foods (eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, french toast, oatmeal) as well as cereals, lots of fresh fruit (which was actually ripe and sweet), yogurt, bagels, toast, lox, fresh squeezed oj. It was such a pleasure each morning. What struck me most however, was how accommodating the staff was to our needs with a toddler. One night when it was raining and we didn't want to leave the hotel for dinner, they were serving in the bar area. Not wanting to disturb the other customers dinners, we asked if we could be served in an unused indoor courtyard area adjacent to the restaurant. They obliged and our waiter Jeff even cut off the crusts of the grilled cheese sandwhich and brought out some fruit for my son right after we ordered so he could eat right away (all without us asking.) Also, the last morning we stayed we had to catch an early flight and the shuttle was to pick us up at 6:30 am. The restaurant for breakfast opened at 6:30 so we would miss breakfast that day, but we asked the staff the day before and arranged it so we could eat at 6:15. We managed to catch the shuttle AND leave with a full stomach before our long day of travel. It was so above and beyond what I would expect a hotel chain to do. Would highly recommend staying here and would definitely stay there again should we return to Santa Fe.

I would recommend this hotel as a solid place to stay while visiting Santa Fe. Right near the Plaza. Not super high-end, but you'll have a good stay. Nice pool centered within the grounds -- they had a hard time supplying everyone with towels. Old TVs and no movies on demand -- wasn't so happy about that. Huge room, but super small bathroom -- don't get the reason for this. No room service. Hmmm, as I write this I'm seeing that there were some issues with the details of what make up a good stay vs. a just ok stay -- guess this would be a just ok stay. I did miss not having room service. Would I stay here again? Sure, I would. But, I also know what I'm getting into. My recommendation to the owner of this hotel would be to add some comforts that would help justify the price -- New TVs and room service being the top two.

Room Tip: I didn't ask for one, but the rooms on the ground floor have direct access to the pool.

We travel quite a bit and stay at Hilton often. This was a very disappointing hotel for several reasons. First the outside of hotel is nothing special. Very plain. There was one person working the front desk and we had to wait longer than usual. In our room there was a huge stain of something on floor next to the bed. Didn't ask, didn't want to know. The air conditioner didn't work and even though they claim to have fixed it....we couldn't lower the temp. There was no wireless available except in the lobby. This is unacceptable in a hotel of this caliber. Yes, they internet access, but they charge you almost $10 per day. Really?? In the bathroom, the toilet was situated so that door was in the way when using the facilities. And we had to pay for parking in an outside insecure lot!! I would not stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for an inside room otherwise your view will be the parking lot or neighboring hotels

Front desk service could be improved
Rooms were okay, although a little noisy

Loved the ambiance and decor of the hotel, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The lobby has a pair of coolers in the afternoon and early evening, one containing water infused with fresh fruit and the other a fruit beverage, both complimentary, which made a refreshing welcome at check-in. The location of the hotel is great for exploring Old Town Santa Fe, and the parking fee was reasonable - just make sure you sign up for Hilton Honors (either in advance, or when you register), since that cuts your parking cost in half and gives you free internet.

We'd booked through Priceline, but were treated with courtesy and respect throughout our stay and were given our preferred room type.
