“Cozy Condo has everything you need!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012

Through a Groupon deal, we arranged to stay at the Villas de Santa Fe two nights, so my husband could ski without a 2-hour drive each way, and I could explore the ski mountain for cross-country options. We were pleased with the accommodations there. We had a lovely small (ideal for 2, probably not for 4, though it would sleep 4) 1-bedroom condo, with a well-stocked kitchenette, nice bedroom and bath, good king bed and lovely bedding, and a cozy but comfy living room. There were 2 flat-screen TVs. We were only a 5-6 block walk from the Plaza in Santa Fe. There were 2 jacuzzis on the property, the largest and most attractive right outside our room, and an 85º swimming pool. Free espresso or juice in the lobby and very friendly and helpful concierges completed the comfort and convenience of this place. Suites are more like hotel suites than "villas", but have everything one could need to be comfortable.

Room Tip: Toward the back and near the larger jacuzzi pool is the nicest area.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. On the flight in we had free access to Delta.com and this hotel was being offered for 50% off so I took it rather than bothering with priceline or hotwire or anything like that. Once we got to our room, we realized why...the building we were in was under renovation. However, it didn't bother us as at all. Our physical room was recently redone, clean, and gorgeous. We were also entertained by watching the new couches be forklifted onto the second floor, but, we realize this wouldn't be everyone's thing...

The front desk was incredibly helpful to us (but with an flair of sarcasm and sass - being from Boston, this is what we are like, as well, so we got along just fine, but I see why other reviews may have picked up on a "vibe"). We're actually really sad we didn't get the front desk manager's name because we just adored him. When asking for dinner recommendations he took us to his favorite place (which isn't on the map they give you) and drove us around for a while giving us a little sightseeing tour and explaining where everything is, the town atmosphere, etc. The shuttle bus is a nice touch but we ended up walking back from dinner and to/from everything else because it was sooo close to everything Santa Fe has to offer (which isn't all that much...)

We didn't check out the pool - I wish we had!

First of all the location, was great. You could easily walk to the square, but if you wanted to drive to a grocery store, you do not have to drive down the congested downtown streets. We also used the shuttle many times, and the service is very nice - they will take you anywhere within three miles which is pretty much anywhere you would want to go. The rooms are large and clean. The kitchens are well appointed with all the little accessories you would necessarily expect, like bottle openers and blenders. The pools and spas are heated and large. We were very impressed by the proffessional staff and the level of knowledge they had about what to do and see. I would give this place seven stars, but the deal I got was rediculously low.

It's basically just 3 buildings: 1x main lobby, 2x 3-stories apartment building. Why is it called the 'villa', which conjures up imagery of a big house with gardens and stuff?

Pros:
+Very comfortable rooms, with full kitchen (we cooked dinner and breakfast)
+Lots of sofa space, LCD TVs, big bed.
+Nice bathroom with good lighting (thanks for not going crazy with CFLs)
+Lots of places to store things
+Easy to accept decor
+Close location to the 'plaza', has a shuttle

Cons:
- Staff's bit stuck up: "what? you want a room upstairs? no you can't we are booked...." and started talking to the guest BEHIND me like we were not there.... rude!
- So as a result we were given a room at the ENTRANCE of the building. During the evening hours and early morning, the main door with zero damper SLAMS every 5 mins when someone enters or leaves the building. Thanks!
-Paper thin wall (typical mid-1990s construction), so i heard what my neighbor was saying, the whole night.

Stayed here on friends points. It was very well maintained. The bed was super comfy (pillows a little too fluffy for us, but the sleeper sofa pillows in the closet were perfect). Also the blackout curtains in the bedroom were the darkest ever! Super great for sleeping in--which we all did everyday! Great kitchenette with two burner stove, coffee maker, dishwasher, toaster, convection microwave and very well stocked kitchen utensils. House keeping was great and brought us all the stuff we requested (fresh paper towel roll, extra pillow cases, etc.) lickity-split. Hot tub in the snow was sublime and very clean. Two flat screen TV's was awesome. Bath room spacious. Sink area a little cramped, but the drawers for storing stuff was excellent. Our only complaint was some of the front desk staff were brusque and not customer oriented when we tried to retrieve some items (via phone) that we'd left in the room. Don't mind paying to have stuff shipped to us, just appreciate some of the attitude and run around trying to track it down. Would definitely stay here again though as it is a super location and great for travelling with kids.

There are two property owners here Diamond Resorts and Vacation Internationale. This is for the VI one bedroom unit. The front desk staff (Diamond Resorts) are friendly and helpful with
restaurant reservation and directions. Daniel helped with their internet access a paid option.
The rooms are just very worn out. The carpet is so worn and loose it poses an major trip and fall hazard. The security latch was broken.

We stayed at Villas de Santa Fe in July, 2011 and October, 2011. This is a timeshare place, but I really did not pick up that vibe; it is more hotel-ly to me. Both experiences very nice and the same. We had the one bedroom units; both units were updated, clean and comfortable. Amenities are nice, to include library off the lobby, laundry, pool, hot tubs, internet access in lobby. The walk to the plaza is short, about 10 minutes. Some interesting places to eat are nearby (within 2-3 blocks), such as Clafoutis and a couple of local, fast food burger joints. My only complaint is that both times our units did not have outside balconies.
