Just a super place-great service, nice facility, great central location. A good place for your first time to Santa Fe-you will become very well-oriented. What stands out is the staff-very nice, friendly and helpful. I can hardly come up with any complaints and we can be a bit picky. So if it is within your budget and you have a car (parking is included), I recommend the Inn very highly. Enjoy!

My mother and I spent 3 nights at Inn of the Governors and loved every minute of it. I had gotten a deal on the room, $159. a night, so the many amenities felt like a steal. The complimentary hot buffet breakfast was extraordinary, and eating it in the garden patio, made it even more special. The charming manager, serving sherry and homemade cookies in the afternoon, was a hoot. The other guests, many repeat customers, were lovely. We ate dinner 2 nights in the hotel restaurant, Del Charro, because of the delicious food and drinks and their wallet friendly price. The room was comfortable and the location is the best. It was our first trip to Santa Fe and I would certainly stay there again.

We just returned from 3 beautiful days in Santa Fe where we stayed here at the Inn of the Governors. First, let me say that before we go anywhere for the first time I always check Trip Advisor and have never been steered wrong by the reviews found here. We had never been to Santa Fe before and we booked a stay here based on what we read in Trip Advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The Inn is absolutely charming. Every detail is attended to - the cleanliness of the rooms, the soaps and lotions provided and the wonderful free breakfast buffet. The staff was extremely welcoming and attentive to our needs. The concierge was very helpful in providing directions to various sites and making restaurant reservations for us at the finest places. The location is terrific - right in the heart of everything!. Parking is also free. The breakfast buffet is not to be missed - everything from bagels to eggs to breakfast meats to fresh fruit to cereals. The grill in the hotel is quite the place to meet after dark and was busy every evening. The food is very good and very reasonable - we paid $5 for a 1/2 pound burger with fries. The hotel also has a sherry and tea time in the afternoons from 4 - 5 PM. The rooms are quite comfortable - we had a king with a fireplace. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the Inn.

  • Liked — very clean, great location, great free breakfast buffet
  • Disliked — nothing really

My husband, two teens, and I stayed at Inn of the Governors for just one night, although we had planned on staying for four. Although the lobby was elegant and the staff was very helpful, our rooms felt like low-end motel rooms. The rooms were very small and dark and one room smelled musty, with a motel-like walkway directly outside our windows. There was no internet access in the rooms - only the lobby - and no space in the room to set up a laptop even if there had been access. The small pool is nice for older couples but not good for teens - prominent signs request that guests be quiet in the pool area. The location of this hotel is terrific as it is walking distance to the plaza, but the small and dark rooms, lack of internet, and stodgy pool area encouraged us to move to the Marriott on dreaded Cerrillos Road. It was a better match for us, at less than half the price.

  • Liked — Location is very close to the Plaza.
  • Disliked — Felt like an inexpensive motel that had been retrofitted with expensive furniture. Small, dark room, motel-like room access, small pool area. Not good for families.

Hotel is well situated right in the centre of Santa Fe and within a couple of minutes walking distance to lots of restaurants, bars, shops, and the plaza where there is some fine local Indian jewellery to be had from the market stall-holders.
Hotel offers free parking and buffet breakfast. The food in the hotel is fine but mostly of the bar-meal variety.
There's also a heated outdoor pool which is great for kids but isn't exactly huge.
The rooms are on the small side although they are nicely decorated and very clean. On the down side, the hotel is on a very busy road and, unless you are fortunate enough to get a room nearer the centre of the hotel overlooking the car park, it can be rather noisy. However, I doubt if there will be any room where you will manage to avoid the early morning rubbish bin trucks doing their thing.
I would recommend shopping around for other hotels that would suit your needs as this hotel is probably a little over-priced for what it offers.

Before we checked into our room, I was prepared for a smallish room based on reviews. I wasn't prepared for the wonderful aroma of steak cooking on an open fire! Apparently, our room was just outside the exhaust vent from the kitchen (who, I might add, makes a great burger). It could have been the smell of burgers, but we thought it was more like steak. Some may not like having this particular air freshener, but we were ok with it. Anyway, the room was great and the four of us were perfectly comfortable. The staff was pleasant and nice and the concierge was helpful with restaurant recommendations. We would stay here again and we would probably ask for the room with the wonderful smell of steak!

Eight of us went in June for a girl trip...we stayed in 2 standard rooms. They were clean, comfortable beds, no real noise problems...but a little small. Would love to see the larger rooms. What is ideal is it's location...we walked everywhere....the breakfast is phenominal, and the great (inexpensive) restaurant/bar saved our budget. Highly recommend!
