We stayed two nites for the first time...while on route to Calif. What a delightful place! Cozy warm and picturesque, close to historic sites, shops and other restaurants; helpful staff in both the hotel...and their onsite lounge / dining. Snowed for 36 hrs during stay, so we took advantage of our room's fireplace - thanking the staff for resupplying our floor's wood supply. Very romantic. We hated to leave!

We've stayed here several times over the past 10 years and it never ceases to amaze us; what a great value! This last visit was during one of their anniversaries so our rate included a $15 daily credit for the restaurant, which was a great bonus. The rooms are always clean and cozy. Location couldn't be better-walking distance to the plaza and even to Canyon Road if the weather allows. Enjoyed tea and cookies every afternoon. The breakfast is delicious and selections are plenty: two types of eggs, bacon, ham, potatoes, cereals, pastries. Staff is always very helpful with suggestions and friendly greetings. At one of their recommendations, we ordered a specialty duck pizza at one of the restaurants, which was great and not something we would have tried on our own.
Only had two problems during this trip: the heated pool was under construction and an error in our final bill. The restaurant had accidentally charged us for another room's order, but they quickly corrected this mistake. We always check our final bills (and I hope others do too!) I understand mistakes happen so I don't hold it against them.
Hope to go back again next year and highly recommend to everyone!

We really enjoyed our week long stay here this past fall. It is a small Inn, clean and cozy, with a great little restaurant and bar. Margaritas were AWESOME!! Breakfast was included, and VERY good. We loved our little room with a fireplace.....very cozy. Convenient to the shopping, museums and restaurants of Santa Fe. Beds were very comfortable, and we slept well most nights. The only complaint I had was on Friday and Saturday night, the bar area was VERY loud. We were right above it in our room, and it kept us and our young child up late both nights. Seemed to be a local crowd. Ask for a room FAR away from the bar and you'll be great!

Room Tip: Ask for a room far away from the loud weekend bar crowd if you have kids, or don't plan on stayi...

Our group had a great experience staying at Inn of the Governors. It was an amazing value to get a nice room, great service, food and beverages in a location so close to the plaza. You will be hard pressed to get so much for your money elsewhere in Santa Fe. While the hotel is older, we had no issues with the cleanliness or comfort of the rooms or facilities. The wifi was pretty reliable. Having rooms with wood burning kivas available at a great rate is another bonus. We all enjoyed the great location and the southwestern decor in the rooms. The included mountain sunrise breakfast was amazing. The $15 daily credit a Del Charro went a long way for very good food and drinks. The tea and sherry hour is another nice touch from the wonderful staff. Our expectations were definitely exceeded.

Room Tip: Getting a room with a kiva fireplace is worth the extra cost.

I love fancy bathrooms and spa stuff, and Inn of the Governors is not that, but it is well worth the stay if you are looking for atmosphere, a fantastic location with convenient parking, along with a memorable Southwest decor. The afternoon sherry hour is fun and the cookies are great. Kids and adults can also opt for hot tea or hot chocolate. We loved having a fireplace in our room, so I would definitely do that. We stayed in the fall, when the outdoor breakfast was magical, lots of flowers in the pots and fire in the outdoor fireplace and overhead heaters on to keep us warm in the morning. Believe what other Santa Fe travelers say about parking near the plaza--it's challenging if impossible, so walking an easy 1 1/2 blocks to shops and restaurants was very easy if you are based at Inn of the Governors. It's a small hotel, charming really. The beds are quite comfortable and the bathrooms, while smallish, have Southwest tile, metal details around the mirrors and accessories, and nice toiletries. The only flaw for me was that the heated pool could have been warmer; we got cold if we weren't moving around quite a bit.

Room Tip: Definitely opt for a room with a fireplace for a quieter stay and atmosphere; if your wifi doesn'...

The best thing about Inn of the Governors is the location - it is located near the square and we find we can walk almost everywhere we want to go. The hotel itself is charming. Yes - a bit dated in some spots - but overall the charm is there. The breakfast is bountiful - and the sherry/tea at 4pm with fresh baked cookies is a nice touch. We were there for the Christmas holiday and found the staff to be warm and friendly. I've visited before in the summer - and will always make this my place to stay in Santa Fe.

We had a room with 2 queen beds with an outside entry. The room was small, clean and had a rustic décor very authentic to the area. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were not. We did experience some noise from the street during the night and the garbage truck early the next morning. I would suggest a room that does not face the street, maybe an interior room. Upon arrival we experienced an easy check in and Sherry, cookies and filtered water were offered in the lobby. The lobby is very small and cozy, we visited in November and appreciated the beautiful warm fireplace. The desk clerk provided us with some great dinner options in the area and sites to visit the next day. We opted to eat dinner at Tomasito's, which was good.
the hotel which is situated in the downtown area is within walking distance to most of the sites.
We suggest you see St. Francis Church (they have mass on Sunday), the chapel with the miracle staircase and the many boutiques and art galleries.
The breakfast, which is complimentary was FANTASTIC, hands down the best quality breakfast. They offerd eggs (western or scrambles, pancakes, bacon, spicy sausage, ham, hash browns, oatmeal & toppings, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, pastries, juices & coffee.
Free Parking as well.

Room Tip: Request an interior room, the old windows allowed too much street noise on the exterior rooms
