We just returned from a four-night stay at the Territorial Inn while we visited Santa Fe and our experience there was excellent.

After reading the preceding scathing, negative review just before leaving for Santa Fe, we called and confirmed our reservation, just to make sure they had it. No problem there, and upon arrival they even upgraded our room for free to a two-room suite because the original room was quite small and the desk clerk thought we'd be more comfortable! Mind you, this was his idea--we never asked. Having stayed in tiny European hotel rooms we were not fazed by the room size.

Our suite in the adjoining building was clean, modern, and spacious. The breakfast room was very nice, and the complimentary breakfast was fine for our needs--fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, waffles, baked goods, coffee, etc. In the main inn building they put out snacks in the afternoon (things like chips and salsa), and brandy at night.

The staff was unfailingly helpful during our visit, making restaurant reservations, providing directions and suggestions whenever we had a question. One of them actually explained the issues that probably prompted the negative review--the owners had indeed fired the management company they had hired to staff and run the inn, and from my perspective whatever problems existed have been resolved.

The inn is literally one block from the Plaza, the hub of downtown Santa Fe, so you can walk everywhere, and they have a parking lot behind the inn where you can leave your car.

Other inns on the street are a lot more expensive (like Inn of the Anasazi), so I don't think you can go wrong at the Territorial Inn. We have friends going to Santa Fe in a few weeks and the first thing we told them was to book a room at this inn as soon as possible!

A dirty aging property run by an indifferent staff! The many many problems we encountered during our stay (August 2004) Included our reservation not being honored upon arrival ("someone screwed up!"), having to move to another property run by the same management company for the first night of our stay (another nightmare) Dirty room with stained carpets, mold in the bathroom, and a hot tub that doesn't work (a main reason for our choosing the property) We were lied to repeatedly by different staff members about the room screw up and the hot tub and given every (contradicting) expalnation imaginable ("it broke this morning"-sure it did) We started to get the full picture when two other couples came to complain to the manager while we were meeting with him. He claimed the owner had just fired the management company that day (although the unhelpful employees were the same throughout our stay) Hmmmm. This place nearly ruined our stay in wonderful Santa Fe! Stay here at your own Risk!!! You've been warned!! (((This property was rec'd. by the ABA (American Bar Association) for our stay during a conference- I hope they'll not make this mistake again!)))

If you like staying at B & B's, do not choose this hotel. First of all, we were in the annex of the hotel. Our window opened into an alley. It was not the charming room that is advertised on the web. All of the rooms open into the 'breakfast' area, which is very loud in the morning.

Secondly, the breakfast is continental. They left out toast, cereal and waffle makers. We might as well have stayed at the Holiday Inn. They do not serve you specialty breakfast. (All of the B&B's I have stayed in do).

For $250, I was extremely disappointed. The whole point of staying there was to get a great breakfast before walking around Santa Fe. You would be better off spending less on a room in another hotel and getting breakfast at Pasquals!

What a cute inn. The staff was friendly, and we just walked outside and were near all the restaurants and everything. We had a private hot-tub and a massage at the spa and just walked back to our room in our robes, how luxurious! A great find and good prices too. Check it out.

This inn is in a GREAT location -- just a few minutes block from the city square, restaurants, shopping, museums -- two or three blocks.
Lots of touches made the stay special: warm, homemade cookies, coffe & cocoa, brandy & truffles in the evening -- real oil paintings in the bedroom (not those stupid hotel prints) and an unexpected fireplace in our room (which was wonderful, because it was cold outside!). Breakfast was cooked by our charming host, homemade french toast served with your choice of granola, cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, juices ... Although our room opened onto the lobby & was right next door to the main entrance, we barely noticed. There are a few rough edges which might bother someone used to staying in luxurious full-service, corporate hotels: our private bathroom was cold (due to a very drafty window), there was a bit of peeling paint, etc... Service was very kind, warm & personal; the overall stay felt quite homey -- if you can stay here for less than $100, especially considering the prices of places right next door, we heartily recommend!

I found this great inn through discount ads on travelocity and other sites. The place was charming and relaxed, with all amenities. A block from the Plaza, and right next to a good tapas place, the main hourse of the inn dates to around 1898. There is the main house, where rooms are old-fashioned and decorated with antiques, but there is a new separate wing added, where I stayed. Beautifully covered king bed, big cable tv., luxurious bath and closet spaces, and done with elegance and lovely furnishings, even your own wine glasses. Staff is accommodating and friendly; breakfast good and in a fine courtyard. Only drawback: in the newer section, there is little light because of the opaque shades and no view. But a fine place if you take the discounts.
