“Delightful Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2009

The inn has beautifully decorated, comfortable rooms, and the quiet location is a convenient walk to the Santa Fe Plaza. It's also directly across the street from the Cross of the Martyrs, which is a nice walk.

Breakfast offerings include lots of fresh fruit, cereal and many other choices. The breakfast room and common rooms are very nicely appointed.

The managers, Joylene and Daniel, are exceedingly warm and helpful. They provided extensive advice about the Santa Fe, Taos and Albuquerque areas.

Due to city restrictions, the signs for the inn are difficult to see when driving by, just remember it's across the street from the Cross of the Martyrs park, which looks like a natural area from the street level. Call ahead to find out the cross streets near the inn.

My husband and I were first-time visitors to Santa Fe and had no idea of what to expect. The Inn on the Paseo was a terrifically comfortable and convenient place to say - we had a great room (#1) that included a spa tub, sitting area and very comfortable bed. It was an easy 3-5 block walk to the Plaza, breakfast was light and filling (waffles, rolls, fresh fruit, etc), and the staff was friendly and relaxed. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet and restful place to stay in Santa Fe. Reasonable rates. Free parking also a plus.

The service and location at the Inn on the Paseo were great. The continental breakfast was very nice and provided alot to choose from. Coffee and cookies were available in the afternoon, but drinking water was no where to be found. The room was a good size, I thought. The bed took up most of it, which is fine. The bed was big and comfortable, but you may need to have a step stool to get into the bed if you are petite or elderly. The walls were not freshly painted and had marks on them with some molding missing. The bathroom was ok, except the floor. The floor seemed unfinished along with the molding, but the toliet and sink seemed new. There is also parking in the back of the building which was a nice benefit as I thought the streets were tight with no available parking.

My colleague and I were in Santa Fe on business, and I picked this hotel for its location and convenient parking. We were both totally delighted with our rooms and the overall ambiance of the place, which is much more like a bed and breakfast than an impersonal hotel. The beds were SUPER comfortable, and we loved the home made cookies in the afternoon and the nice lounge and lobby with fireplaces. Due to the configuration of the inn (which was previously three houses), the rooms do vary in size, so if you need more space for luggage etc. just let the staff know and they will do their best to accommodate you in comfort. I have stayed in countless hotels and motels both in the US and overseas, but staying in the Inn on the Paseo was a truly special experience. I would not hesitate to recommend the Inn. Excellent value for money.

I stayed at the Inn with my seven year old daughter for part of her spring break. The location cannot be beat! There are numerous museums, historic churches, fabulous restaurants and shopping in easy walking distance. We did not use the car once the whole stay. Our room, #13, was charming and cozy. The bed took up much of the space, so it is not a great place to stay if you intend to spend a lot of time in the room. The mattress was very comfortable; the temperature was pleasant; the room was clean, sunny, and cheerful during the day and quiet at night. Just outside of the room is a comfortable sitting area with comprehensive restaurant guides and a quaint fireplace. The staff was warm and friendly; however, you could only find somebody in the lobby early in the morning. As other reviewers have mentioned, the breakfast is just okay. If you stayed more than a couple of days, you would want to eat elsewhere. There were a variety of other guests at the Inn including younger couples, older couples, and singles -- a testament to the universal appeal of the Inn's charms. While the Inn does not have the amenities of a larger hotel (fitness center, spa, restaurant, etc.), they are affiliated with a larger hotel nearby that does offer those things.

The Inn is cozy and friendly, but the rooms need some updating. Went for a girlfriend getaway and our room was small, taken up mostly by the king bed. The bathroom was clean, but clearly worn out. The freshly baked cookies in the afternoon were a nice touch. The hotel was quiet, but it also wasn't very full. We got what we expected for the price we paid. There's a pathway across the street from the hotel that leads up a steep hill. Worth the hike as there is a nice view of the city and information on the history of Santa Fe. Make sure you call ahead if you are going to arrive late. They don't staff the desk 24/7. We walked to a lot of the attractions/restaurants, but we also typically do a lot of walking. Don't stay here if you want new or luxury. Stay here if you want cozy and friendly.

I booked a room at the Inn for my fiance's birthday. We flew in from Minnesota and got there late-morning. I had booked a package and paid extra for "deluxe studio" with king-size bed primarily for the fireplace. The room (number 12) was a major dissapointment. It was worn and tired, old furnishings (not of the antique variety), and very small. The bed was a queen, not a king. The "fireplace" was little more than a spaceheater, high on the wall, and bore no resemblance to the one pictured on their website. The bathroom sink was literally falling off the wall and was at a slant. There was nowhere in the bathroomon which to set personal items so I actually brought in an outdoor table and used that during our stay. The fireplace turned out to be not a luxury but a necessity, as the heat didn't work in our room and the outside temps dropped to single digits. The towels were thin and worn, the carpet as well. The overall feel was that of the negected spare room in an elderly relative's home. Hardly the special setting advertized or hoped-for. The person on duty during our stay was pleasant but clearly unable to respond to my concern. She told me that they did not promise a king bed, although my confirmation clearly specified it and the Expedia website gave you a choice. The breakfast was fine but unchanging, nothing special.
