“As a B&B should be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

A two night stay and it felt like home. A beautifully decorated room, a bit small though for the large size furniture but since there was a nice community room across the small courtyard there was no problem. We loved this extra space that was stocked with everything you needed to relax and where our delicious breakfasts were served. Being able to walk to the town square and attractions was a big plus.

We have stayed on Santa Fe many times and have tried out other lodgings but we believe you can't beat the Four Kachinas B&B. We have stayed in several rooms and they have all been well appointed and clean. It is obvious that Walt and Wayne take a great deal of pride in their ownership of both this and its sister B&B (El Farolito) couple of blocks away.
Breakfasts are always varied and well presented. We love the fact that there are cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit and juices, a cooked breakfast and a sweet option plus toast and delicious coffee. What more could you ask for?
Walt was always around to help us to plan our trips and recommend local restaurants. He is a mine of information - thanks for all your help! We'll be back when we next visit Santa Fe.

Room Tip: Depends what you want - check out the website for a room you find pleasing.

Being from Farmington, NM, we wanted to treat a friend visiting from Austria, we were absolutely charmed by our experience overall. We took a lovely and scenic drive through Dulce, Chama and Taos arriving at our destination mid afternoon July 24. It was only a one night stay, but, being that the location was so convenient to everything we had a ball walking around Canyon Road, eating at The Shed, enjoying a free jazz concert in the square, visiting the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and shopping for souvenirs. We loved the Inn's owners, staff, amenities, breakfast and grounds. Thank you so much and look forward to staying there again.

Room Tip: San Miguel #3 has its own courtyard and is a quiet corner suite. It has two double beds, and, a roo...

i stayed here for 4 nights this week. from the beginning, this hotel offered great service. they worked with us to determine the best way to get to the place -- we flew into santa fe and took a shuttle right to the hotel. if you arrive after hours (we got there at about 9 p.m.) they leave instructions for how to get in and get settled. the breakfast was excellent -- home cooked and tasty. they have an excellent selection of coffees, teas, yogurts, etc. etc. i had a few problems with the food but that is only because i have a food allergy that is tough in the south west (i'm allergic to peppers!). one of the breakfast dishes was so good that my friend requested (and was given) the recipe! the hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the center of town, and it is a very nice 10 minutes because you go by cafes and shops on your way. i had 2 tiny issues with the hotel -- there weren't enough towels (if you are a 2 towel person, which i am for hair), and there was no mirror in the bedroom. that means that if two people are trying to get ready at the same time, only one can do so at a time b/c you have to go into the bathroom. a mirror in the bedroom would have been helpful. but those are just small things. the proprietors were very nice and helpful with information about things to do in town. i definitely recommend this property in santa fe! by the way, if you go there and rent a car, definitely try to get outside the town a bit to the national park nearby with great easy hiking, and go to madrid and to the shidoni glassworks

We stayed in the Kachina room which was very nice. Not a large room but very adequate. Nicely decorated and very clean. Love that they use Thymes products.

Staff is very nice, friendly, and professional. The woman who cooked us breakfast and handled the check out was VERY nice and she made a great vegetable omelet.

Location is great; we've stayed at the sister inn, El Farolito and found the Four Kachinas to be a little bit closer for walking to the Plaza. Also within walking distance (about 1/2 a block away) is a very nice specialty market if you want to pick up some gourmet items to snack on.

I always try to choose a room that has a private balcony/patio when traveling. This room does have its own private patio but it's not totally private. There is an open walkway so that you can see two of the other private patios. Not a big deal, just an FYI. I've attached a picture for anyone interested.

The outside common areas, although small, are nicely adorned/landscaped. There is a small water feature which provides a soothing element to the area. I've attached a picture of this area as well.

We would definitely recommend this B&B; it is a very nice place to stay.

My daughter and I stayed in the Chimayo room for five nights in July, and everything was perfect. The suite itself was spacious with plenty of room for two adults with differing sleeping habits. The furnishings of our room were great; Walt manages to strike the perfect balance between elegance and comfort. The air conditioning unit was quiet and effective. The communal outdoor patio was lovely.
Breakfast was something to look forward to every day, with a hot entree and a nice variety of cold breakfast choices. The fact that there is a snack and siting room available all day and night was a tremendous plus, as I could duck downstairs for a cup of coffee at any time. We appreciated the very central location, allowing us to go back to the room to wait out the hottest hours of midday before setting out again. The inn is located in a pleasant residential area and has off-street parking. A short walk takes you to the a plaza and several museums. Museum Hill is about a five minute drive away with more Santa Fe attractions. Walt is a font of information about the city and surrounding area and provided brochures, restaurant menus and maps that helped us organize our visit.
All in all, this is a fabulous place to stay, in a fabulous city.

Could not ask for a more pleasant accommodations or better location. Breakfast was wonderful: it is so nice to have a beautiful medley of freshly cut fruit placed before you in the morning! Walt prepares a richly flavored mushroom souffle that is worth getting up for!
