“That is three out of three”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

We chose Don Gaspar because of the great times we have had at the Blue Lake in Durango and the Casa Blanca in Farmington. This was certainly up to par with both of them. The beautiful gardens, the friendly staff and the great breakfasts. Our room was very tastefully furnished and the freshly ground coffee was a treat.
The B&B is located just about 5 minutes from the Plaza but situated in a neighborhood so it is very peaceful.
Great Job.

Thank you so much for your review. Three out of three is good. The owners of the three inns have put their best gardening, decorating and service blueprint into each inn, Blue Lake Ranch near Durango and Casa Blanca in Farmington. We hope you will come to stay with all of us again.

The Don Gaspar Inn is in a most excellent location, only about four blocks from the Plaza, so walking was easy and yet we were far enough away that it was very very quiet at night.

Our room, the Kachina Room, was large and comfortable. Because of colder than expected May weather, we used the fireplace which warmed it considerably. The whirlpool tub is advertised to be large enough for two, but really, it's a one person experience.

Breakfasts were varied and very good, with good fresh fruit every morning in a very nice sunroom. Hosts were congenial and helpful.

I have only two very minor quibbles. The king bed in our room was very soft and actually sagged a bit to the middle, obviously having seen better days. Upgrading the mattress would be a great boon to the inn. And, because it's an older building, the number of electric outlets was too few for us. But again, minor quibbles.

I don't think you could go wrong staying here. We certainly plan to do so again.

Thank you for your comments. We enjoy hearing the good and the not so good so we can investigate and improve. The electrical outlet concern is a good one to know about, we'll remedy that. The mattress has a 3 inch temperpedic type pad on it, some people love the beds, some don't! We'll look into that too but we are very glad you came to visit and we look forward to future visits. Thanks again.

We stayed in the Fountain Casita during our vacation in Santa Fe. It was tastefully furnished with Southwest charm evident throughout our accommodations which included a living room, bedroom, full kitchen and bath. There were large closets and many drawers and shelves for temporary storage. Interior lighting was very good, both from natural light through the windows, and from electrical lights indoors. Modern features included complimentary wi-fi and big screen TV.

The Casita afforded us quiet, private quarters. The king bed was very comfortable. A gas fireplace in the living room, wall heater in the bedroom, and heat lamps in the bathroom kept us warm even though outdoor temperatures dropped to the low 30s at night. The patio in front of our living room looked out on many colorful flowers in the garden.

Breakfast was served in an attractive dining area that also had an adjacent patio. The buffet included many quality selections to satisfy a wide variety of tastes. Complimentary snacks, fruit and bottled water were available during the day.

Our hostess was born and raised in Santa Fe. She was very knowledgeable about the city and surrounding areas. She had many good suggestions to make during our stay.

The inn is located on a one-way street. Its entrance and office are at the rear of the main building. It has an excellent location, well within walking distance of historic downtown Santa Fe and its many tourist attractions.

Wow! You've said it all. Thank you so much for taking the time to give us such a detailed review. It was a pleasure to have you stay with us. We hope you can make it back to Santa Fe some time to see the rest of the sights around the area. The Fountain is now bubbling away in front of the Fountain Room and the roses have bloomed. Again, Thank you.

We spent a week in New Mexico and three nights in this terrific B&B in the Olive Tree Suite which is a bit away from the courtyard. The room is so tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. The room is equipped with coffee pot, microwave and mini fridge, real glassware and silverware to enjoy your pre-dinner wine and cheese.

We really loved the morning breakfasts which were delicious each day - our favorite dish coming on the last day which I will call Santa Fe Hash - a yummy potato and cheese casserole with green chilies and carnitas that really captured the flavors of the southwest for us. And the staff is so, so helpful. We got great tips each day about how to organize our time and what to do first - advice that allowed us to experience Santa Fe off the beaten track. Strongly recommend this terrific place!

Thank you for taking the time to review the Don Gaspar Inn. And we are so glad you liked the 'Santa Fe Hash'. It's a dish we created and it's become very popular. Good luck on your travels, it seems you love to get around. I know you mean that the Olive Tree room is not right on the Inn's Garden Courtyard, and we will look at ways to make the small courtyard by the Olive Tree Room more colorful and inviting this summer. We hope you can visit again sometime.

We stayed here very recently as part of our grand road trip around the South Western USA. We would recommend this place without reservation. From the minute you entered until the moment you left the staff went out of their way to ensure your stay was as pleasant as it could be. We stayed in the Aspen Suite for three nights. This is a charming little cottage with every convenience and a great deal of character. We would strongly recommend this place to the discerning traveller looking for somewhere with individuality and a personal touch.

We so love having visitors from other countries. It was great fun comparing history and information about York and Santa Fe. We were glad to have you visit and hope you might have occasion to come back and stay longer some time. There is still lots to see in Santa Fe. Thank you for your kind words and Happy Travels.

This is a top notch Inn, very quiet, outside entrances, beautifully appointed rooms that have a lot of very tasteful New Mexico charm. The Inn sits in an old prosperous Santa Fe neighborhood.
Some of the rooms are historic some newly built with a great ambiance including courtyards with beautiful gardens and a fountain in the center. The breakfasts are great...Ana is a wonderful cook and hostess, as is Christina and Patrick a genial host that will take the time to carry your bags for you.
The owners have other lodges in both Durango, CO and Farmington, NM, though I have never visited those locations my guess is that they are equally wonderful.

Room Tip: Each room is its own place. Read the room descriptions and chose to fit your needs.

Green Features: Anyone that cares that much about their gardens is high on my list.

I told the innkeeper when we were leaving that I could not think of a single thing they could have done to make this a nicer place. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and given a full explanation of the facilities. We stayed two nights in the Territorial Suite. Very spacious with a private porch on a quiet street. Breakfasts were delicious in a very inviting sunny breakfast room. And very accommodating of our dietary restrictions. We enjoyed sitting by the fountain in the garden in the afternoon. The Inn is easily accessible to the Santa Fe plaza. And best of all, our stay was the result of the Inn having donated an extremely generous gift certificate to a fundraiser for our local library. I'm looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: Look at the Inn's website. Each suite is well-described with accurate photos.

Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate your taking the time to post a review for us. We are glad you found the Territorial comfortable, it is one of our most popular rooms, maybe because of that big front porch. I do hope you will come visit us again, it was a pleasure to serve you.
