“US road trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

We stayed here very recently as part of our grand road trip around the South Western USA. We would recommend this place without reservation. From the minute you entered until the moment you left the staff went out of their way to ensure your stay was as pleasant as it could be. We stayed in the Aspen Suite for three nights. This is a charming little cottage with every convenience and a great deal of character. We would strongly recommend this place to the discerning traveller looking for somewhere with individuality and a personal touch.

We so love having visitors from other countries. It was great fun comparing history and information about York and Santa Fe. We were glad to have you visit and hope you might have occasion to come back and stay longer some time. There is still lots to see in Santa Fe. Thank you for your kind words and Happy Travels.

This is a top notch Inn, very quiet, outside entrances, beautifully appointed rooms that have a lot of very tasteful New Mexico charm. The Inn sits in an old prosperous Santa Fe neighborhood.
Some of the rooms are historic some newly built with a great ambiance including courtyards with beautiful gardens and a fountain in the center. The breakfasts are great...Ana is a wonderful cook and hostess, as is Christina and Patrick a genial host that will take the time to carry your bags for you.
The owners have other lodges in both Durango, CO and Farmington, NM, though I have never visited those locations my guess is that they are equally wonderful.

Room Tip: Each room is its own place. Read the room descriptions and chose to fit your needs.

Green Features: Anyone that cares that much about their gardens is high on my list.

I told the innkeeper when we were leaving that I could not think of a single thing they could have done to make this a nicer place. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and given a full explanation of the facilities. We stayed two nights in the Territorial Suite. Very spacious with a private porch on a quiet street. Breakfasts were delicious in a very inviting sunny breakfast room. And very accommodating of our dietary restrictions. We enjoyed sitting by the fountain in the garden in the afternoon. The Inn is easily accessible to the Santa Fe plaza. And best of all, our stay was the result of the Inn having donated an extremely generous gift certificate to a fundraiser for our local library. I'm looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: Look at the Inn's website. Each suite is well-described with accurate photos.

Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate your taking the time to post a review for us. We are glad you found the Territorial comfortable, it is one of our most popular rooms, maybe because of that big front porch. I do hope you will come visit us again, it was a pleasure to serve you.

We just spent 4 fabulous nights at Don Gaspar and were terribly sorry to leave. We booked the Aspen Suite and were delighted with how spacious and comfortable it was – with a small but well-equipped kitchen. It’s on a quiet road and the bedroom is incredibly peaceful. The whole Inn is charming – spread out in little buildings set round a courtyard and garden. The people who look after you – Anna, Kristen and Patrick – were second to none in their warmth, welcome and efficiency.

Breakfasts – served in a pretty and colourful conservatory - were so generous and delicious. And they had taken such care to provide what we wanted (including Skim milk, decaff coffee and granola and fruit). We had pleasant chats with some of the other guests – but you eat at separate tables, so there’s no pressure to be sociable first-thing-in-the-morning if you’re a slow starter!

This is an exceptionally well-run and thoughtful place – even to the extent of offering things such as umbrellas and walks books and energy bars….

It’s also really quick to walk into town (the Plaza is 0.4 miles away, we were impressed to be told!) and down to the trendy railyard area – also half a mile – where there are lots of nice little shops, cafes and restaurants. We could only leave Santa Fe by promising ourselves we’d return some time, and when (not if!) we do, we will be sure to book into Don Gaspar again. In a heartbeat, as they say!

Room Tip: We loved the Aspen Suite - but I doubt there's a bad room in the place!

One of the best and most comfortable small inns that we we've ever stayed. Adding to the enjoyment of our visit to Santa Fe, the staff was warm and welcoming. The suite was comfortable and had every amenity. Breakfasts provided both originality, ample portions, and an opportunity to interact with the staff. Also, the Don Gaspar is extremely convenient to both Plaza and Canyon Road attractions. We recommend the Inn very highly, and will definitely return.

We sought out the Don Gaspar in after spending a very relaxing night in it's sister inn, The Casa Blanca Inn in Farmington, NM. We were so impressed with the comfort and ambience that we extended our stay and extra day. We will definitely return when in the Santa Fe area again. The rooms were spacious and comfortable - beautifully appointed. Breakfast was relaxed, ample and super delicious!

Thank you Anna, Christine, and Patrick for an exceptional stay in the Territorial Suite; if you
want to feel like you have your own home just off the Plaza, book it now; large front porch with seating, comfortable den with fireplace, heated marble floor in bath, king bed with quality pillows and linens, roasted coffee beans in-room; breakfast is fresh, fresh, fresh- yogurt, berries, cheese,
breads and pastries along with a hot entree; we have stayed in various inns in Santa Fe over the years but we have found our home at the Don Gaspar; oh, did I mention the staff- they are
exceptional- warm, friendly, informative and proud of their inn- just the best.

Room Tip: Territorial Suite is terrific

Thank you, thank you, thank you. It is so nice to be appreciated. We all do our best to make everyone's stay enjoyable and we are pleased to have succeed for you. Did you know the Territorial Suite used to be the Home Ec dept. of a middle school that used to be in the neighborhood? You wouldn't know it now. We look forward to your future visits. Thanks again.
Sincerely, The whole Staff
