This was our first trip to Santa Fe, NM, but we have stayed at other B&B’s, so when we tell you that this experience was the best, by far, you can believe us (and that includes some in Hawaii). It was all due to the lovely and gracious hostesses, Dee and Marie, and their wonderfully designed and decorated home. At first I looked for a B&B directly in Santa Fe proper, but did not find them particularly appealing and most did not have a pool. The Delmar en la Cienega is about 7 miles south of downtown Santa Fe, away from the noise and congestion, on a secluded property just off of highway 25, which gives them a big advantage over the others. The master suite bedroom is huge and spacious, the shower and Jacuzzi room is beautifully and artfully tiled and with a few candles, a very romantic area. And there are even 2 separate sink areas (men – this was worth the price alone!). The large, inviting indoor pool is just a few feet outside of the bedroom doors. The other rooms to let were also beautiful and spacious. The views from the bedroom windows (and the pool) are vast and scenic with nary a neighbor’s house in sight (one night I heard a coyote’s howl seemingly right outside our window). Yet restaurants and stores are only 10 minutes away on Cerillos Road, and the Blue Heron Restaurant at the Inn at Sunrise Springs is only 5 minutes away. We stayed for 5 nights and were lucky enough to have Dee and Marie to ourselves for 3 of those days, which was the icing on the cake. They are New Jersey transplants with a number of New Mexico years and they know the area restaurants, attractions and people extremely well, thus they offer great advice on day trips and places to eat to get a true taste of the southwest. Their cooking skills are unsurpassed as evidenced by the scrumptious variety of breakfasts they cooked up and presented with 5 star quality. Not to mention they make a mean mango-lime margarita, too! The best parts of the day were getting their advice while enjoying breakfast, then coming home at the end of a long day of touring and relating our experiences with them. We quickly became close friends and truly hated to leave. Forgive me for gushing here, but these ladies and their wonderful B&B deserve it. Treat yourself and visit with them!
