“My favorite place in Santa Fe-and that's saying something!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2008

We had never had authentic tapas, and were absolutely amazed by the variety and quality. Our waitress made recommendations over and over that were so right on to our tastes. She made great wine pairing selections for each of us, and was perfectly involved in our meal without being obtrusive. Really, I have never had a better paced, paired and orchestrated meal. I can't wait to go back!! Thank you, La Boca!!!

“Tapas are terrific”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2007

The menu of tapas and entrees is broad enough to satisfy just about any palate. Lamb and chicken dishes were great. Hazelnut torte was light and flavorful. The pricing is reasonable for Santa Fe dining, but quickly adds up...dinner for two...3 glasses of wine and dessert including tip $100.

Reservations were only available for early and late, but plenty of tables went empty. The restaurant is "intimate" and some tables for two are within just a few inches (4") and you'll want to avoid these.

Note to management...Although the water was frequently refilled, service was a bit slow...only two waiters sho seemed to struggle to keep up with the demands of their diners and congregated in the bar area rather than working the floor.

“Nice meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2007

My wife and I had an early dinner at La Boca on a chilly Saturday night. The restaurant is housed in a small square room on West Marcy just a block or two north of the Plaza. Parking is street only, and the meters cost a quarter for every 15 minutes (they take dimes and nickels too).

We had grilled asparagus, seafood canelones, grilled shrimp and flat iron steak "pinchos" on a skewer with onion. Dessert was a hazelnut semifreddo (a semi-frozen custard). The food was good. Portions are, obviously, small, being that this is a tapas place. and the prices can add up quickly, especially if you opt for meat and seafood (any way you slice it, $14 is a lot for two shrimp).

Total bill for the four tapas plus dessert, a glass of wine and coffee, was about $75. Service was brisk and the waitress matched the weather...she was cold. But from the other comments I've read here, that seems to be the exception and not the rule.

I would eat here again. Where else can you try four different dishes without having to loosen your belt?

“Not to be missed!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2007

This tiny Tapas restaurant is some of the best food I have ever had. The tuna, mussels, and grilled artichokes were excellent. Our waiter Miguel provided excellent service and was very helpful. Don't miss out on this great spot!!
