“One Beautiful Building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

I don't visit state capitol buildings, as a rule, but this one is a winner. The art work is beautiful and very interesting. Make this a stop for sure.

“Loved It!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

The design was beautiful. As great Architecture fans, we heard this was a must stop-it did not disappoint. One of the workers saw us gawking and took it upon himself to become our guide.

I really like the architect of the building and the session was on at that time and so many things to do and watch government work and make our laws.. I worked for the New Mexico state Senate as the deputy Sargent at Arms..A beautiful beautiful building set in the center of Santa Fe, New Mexico

“Good priorities: make art not politics”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

The only round capitol building in the USA and the only one that seems to be more of an art gallery than a political building. Even if the walls were empty this would be a beautiful building. Unlike other capitols this doesn't dominate the area but rather blends in with its surroundings outside and reflects NM's culture and heritage in its decorations and furniture. A pleasure to visit. No tours, just wander.

The politicians are in session for only 30 days in even numbered years and 60 in odd, and they don't get a salary, yet NM seems like a pretty well-run state. Hmmm... turn the legislature into an art gallery, give the politicians only minimal time and don't pay them while getting pretty good results. There's a lesson here for other jurisdictions.

Tip: You can park for free in the garage at Galisteo and Manhattan, right across the road. In fact, if you don't mind a bit of a walk you could park here all day while visiting the Plaza area.

“A different kind of Capitol”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

One of the only 2 state Capitals without a dome which makes it architecturally interesting. Take time to see the art work displayed through out the building.
