“great guide!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

We visited on a Saturday afternoon, and I'm so glad we opted for the brief tour. The guide, Joseph, was lovely--interesting, interested, knowledgeable, humble--unforgettable! He taught us a lot. Something else I didn't expect--the art work in the building is amazing! I think he said their are 650 pieces. Very nice. Finally, it's very welcoming there. You don't go through metal detectors, etc. Joseph mentioned that this is very intentional--the building belongs "to the people."

“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

You only have to have a moderate interest in architecture and art to enjoy the visit to the Roundhouse. Within walking distance from the main tourist area it was a good way to spend an hour.

“Different state capitol building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

The New Mexico state capitol building is round, modeled like the Zia symbol on their license plates. Most state capitols are modeled on the U.S. capitol building in Washington, D.C. This one honors their state natives & their culture. We had a very knowledgeable tour guide who gave an unscheduled tour, which we thought was very accommodating for tourists. Lots of art work in the building. We enjoyed hearing the history of some of the art work.

“Terrific art collection and fascinating architecture.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

The State Capitol is featured in a documentary that I show to my college classes, and I wanted to see the round chambers of the House and Senate when I visited Santa Fe.

The collection of art from New Mexican artists is extensive, and spans the entire building. The chambers are impressive, and although they were not in session during my visit, the gallery provided a visual montage of proceedings.

A bit off the regular tourist path, but worth the visit.
