“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed both the dinner and the lunch we had here last week. Both times we sat outside in their beautiful courtyard. Our waitress for dinner and waiter for lunch were both excellent. Service was prompt and friendly. The place was lively, filled with people enjoying themselves. While there are tablecloths and cloth napkins and candles, it feels romantic but not stuffy. The food was top notch! Nice combinations of southwestern flavors, asian food, and more traditional offerings. For example, we loved the appetizers -- crisp fried calamari with a 4 chili lime dipping sauce and the shitake mushroom and cactus springrolls. The buttermilk sherbet with almond cookie and raspberry sauce was out of this world!!! There is parking behind the restaurant that we were able to use both times. Excellent in every way!

“The best meal I had in Santa Fe!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

Just came back from visiting a friend in Santa Fe. It was my 4th trip over the years. We dined at upscale restaurants like Geronimo but my favorite was our lunch at Santacafe. I dined with 2 other people that live in Santa Fe and we all concluded that our meals there were divine and the best. Can't say enough about their food and their prices are good. Must go, at least for lunch!

“BEWARE the GROUP NEXT TO YOU in a Smal Room!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

Firstly, I'll say that this is an excellent restaurant with excellent food and with generally excellent service - which is what my group of 7 received last Friday evening. So, this is NOT a review of the quality of the restaurant but a failure of management more than anything else.

However, if you are a group and are unlucky enough to put in a small room next to a rowdy group of (shall I say it?: semi-drunken (that's what it appeared to me), baseball cap-wearing, general rowdies - DEMAND TO BE MOVED!!

The great failure of this restaurant was not to anticipate that putting TWO LARGE GROUPS in ONE SMALL ROOM would cause a problem. Had the other group been relatively civilized people - and not SHOUTED at each other (literally: we had to ask on more than one occasion for them to "shut up" - I use this in the British sense of the word: in America it seems that it is considered to be an insult - i.e. please be quieter.)

“Expensive with an attitude”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

We were reluctant to go to Santacafe based on other reviews but their outdoor courtyard looked inviting so we bit the bullet, hoping for the best. The atmosphere can only be described as frenetic, glitzy, snobbish with a distinct "LA vibe". While waiting almost 15 minutes for drinks to arrive, we noticed other tables receiving complementary starters, "amuse bouche". We were not served any and later discovered they were only given to preferred guests by the the maitre d. This was an immediate turnoff. My chicken dish was at best mediocre while my husband's fish was good. Food-wise it was just very average.
The bottom line is save your money and go elsewhere.

“A Santa Fe Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Interesting fusion of southwestern and Asian food sometimes works and sometimes not. Shiitake mushroom and nopales (cactus) springrolls are interesting but not something we'd order again. Lambchops with a pomegranate glaze were superb as was an arugula salad with Chile spiced pecans, a goat cheese crouton, and bing cherry dressing. Service was sassy in a god way- when asked if the plum cake was good, for example, our waiter laughed and said, "Not really." Creme brûlée and warm chocolate cake were delicious, however. In nice weather patio seating is lovely.
