“The Place to be for Generations”

Authentic Santa Fe dining in a spacious atrium with Southwest decor. Good food and service.
In the day, when you got to Santa Fe, all there was was LaFonda.

“our experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

The visit was pleasant but not outstanding. Food and service very good, prices fair. One draw back was the toilet facilities which to say the least for these overused M/F rooms wasn't much better than what you would expect in a rural outhouse. Believe it of not no décor, and worst of all not toilet seat protectors in the day and age. It is a shame that management is so tuned out to the times and offers really nothing better than a room with a toilet, sink and hand paper towels

“Best Resturant in Santa Fe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Atmosphere, history, and location combine with good food and good service to bring you the best restaurant in Santa Fe. I've often read the phrase, "La Fonda is Santa Fe". Now I know what it means. On your way to La Plazuela you walk up the stairs from the street past paintings of pueblos through a lobby crowded with shoppers, hotel guests, and others just there to gawk at everyone else. You glance down the long hallway toward the shopping arcade and you enter the restaurant with live plants growing everywhere including a tree. There is a waterfall and pond. A two-story atrium boasts a balcony above so those on the second floor of the hotel can look down upon you while you eat. Eating is quite an event here with decorative touches everywhere including glass wall tiles with pictures etched into them. The tables are made of thick solid wood. They don't wobble of shake. The chairs are carved of solid wood, too, and can be quite heavy. Some have leather seats, others are made of stuffed hand-woven material. You feel as if you are sitting there in Santa Fe's storied past illuminated by wall sconces turning the pages of the detailed menu, deciding what to order. Shall it be a chicken salad or just ice cream or sorbet with mint leaves? Expensive? Of course! What would you expect at La Plazuela? Save your dollars before you come here. My favorite detail? I've included it as a photo: a wall tile of a bear surrounded by flowers.

“Huevos Rancheros for Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Oh my, I loved my Huevos Rancheros breakfast. Huge plate of delicious green chili, eggs, black beans and posole. My friend had granola with fresh fruit and yogurt which she said was divine. For dinner the night before we shared a steak fajita platter which was simply exquisite! The steak was tender and very tasty. It was a quiet Easter Sunday night in Santa Fe and I am glad that we chose to eat where we did. I highly recommend having the steak fajita.

“Tableside Guacamole so worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Open later than other restaurants on a Sunday night, what a surprise to find such a beautifully decorated spot. We ordered the tableside guacamole $12 - could have fed four people! (there were two of us) Dinner was delicious as well and the atmosphere very warm.
