“So cosy and quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

It was Christmas Day and we figured we couldn't find any place decent to eat but we managed to snag a table at this restaurant. The food was fabulous and the service so attentive. The restaurant was warm and quiet. It is so unusual to find a place where you can actually hear each other even though you are quite close to others.

“Christmas Dinner was oh so good, and then oh so bad.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

The three-course fixed price Christmas day dinner stared off very nicely with 4-star appetizers and 5-star main courses. That is when things went down hill. After about ten minutes, one of our party of six had his plate cleared, while curiously the remaining five had to wait nearly a half hour before plates were cleared and desert orders were taken. Then we had to wait another fifteen minutes for the deserts to come.

We shouldn't have bothered. The chocolate beignets, recommended by the waitress, had a curious unpleasant flavor. One of our group sniffed them and remarked that they smelled just like onion rings. We brought this to the attention of our waitress, who graciously took the order off of our bill. However, she was unappologetic, noting that as the kitchen had only one fryer that it was natural that the onion rings and beignets should share to same oil. I took one star off an otherwise excellent meal for slow service, and being in a generous mood, it being Christmas, only two stars off for the egregious error of serving chocoate onion beignets.

“Excellent Sunday night special for couples”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

We took advantage of the Sunday night special, $19 for a first-rate romantic dinner. The service and food were really lovely and we thought the value was outstanding. My husband is vegetarian and really enjoyed his entree. We plan to go again this coming Sunday and would recommend it.

“A Fabulous Place for Fine Dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

My wife and I always dine at D42 whenever we're in Santa Fe. The service is excellent, the food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the ambiance is great. You're not sitting in crowdy noisy restaurant with tables crammed together. You're in a special place, quiet, surrounded by other diners obviously enjoying good wine, good food, and good times.
My wife apprciates the many gluten-free options. I appreciate the informed staff, the excellent food, and dining in a place that obviously tries to please you and also appreciates your business.
