This has been one of my perennial Santa Fe favorites for years, so it was a surprise that when we recently went for a leisurely lunch that it was not as good as in the past. The dining room and patio have obvious deferred maintenance. It's as if the owners lost pride in this Jewell. Service was efficient but not overly friendly, helpful or attentive. The menu is ok but limited, but our meals were lackluster. The presentation was so-so, the cut of meat was tough and EVERYTHING on the plate was over seasoned, from the chunks of garlic under the thick-cut fries, to the over-seasoned 'three pepper' steak to the vegetables bathing in garlic butter. The chop salad was ordinary with a bland dressing and unimaginative presentation. I hope they get their act together soon, as I have always enjoyed Rio Chama in the past.
