“Harry's Roadhouse, a local favorite.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

A friend steered us to the local hotspot, Harry's Roadhouse. It is a bit outside Santa Fe proper, but worth the drive. As soon as we saw the line at the door snaking out into the parking lot, we knew we were in the right place. The decor is very casual and seating can include a bar stool at a counter, a table or a booth. The most amazing thing was the variety and diversity of the menu, which was written on chalkboard beside our table. I ate the yummy pasta with puttanesca sauce. My sister ate the chicken enchiladas. Both were delicious.

“Eat with the locals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Because Harry's doesn't advertise and is several miles from the center of Santa Fe, most people who go there are locals. The decor isn't meant to impress, and some areas of this rambling restaurant are charming while others are rather bleak. (Weather permitting, a large group often congregates outside on the patio to watch the sunset, best seats in the house.) If you go in the late afternoon, you will be sure to get parking and will probably be seated right away, but the place is run efficiently so even if there is a wait, you feel that they will get to you as fast as possible. The menu features excellent New Mexican cuisine but also very inventive dishes from all over the world. The staff is VERY knowledgable about gluten-free dining, a must for one of us. And the selections for gluten-free were numerous. There are so many intriguing dishes, it is impossible to recommend one over the other. Suffice it to say that on three different visits to Santa Fe from the east coast, eating at Harry's at least once each time, we have never had less than an excellent meal. While waiting for your food, check out their cookbook, which they have for sale. (A copy is usually available for perusing.) What with all that is available on the internet, cookbooks may seem superfluous these days, but this one may just change your mind. Many of the excellent dishes on the menu are featured in the book.

“Always Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

This is probably five years now of visiting Harry's. It is truly an American Gem! I have something different every time and the food NEVER dissapoints. Everything is thoughtfully assembled and very good. The prices are right and service is a "10". If this was in my home town, I'd go weekly (or more). It is a bit off the beatin' path, but you must check it out.

“Wonderfully diverse menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

So many choices, so little time! Harry's menu has something for everyone. Get there early cuz this fun, funky place fills up fast. The Moroccan Vegetable Stew over cous cous was a welcomed change from beans and rice. Very tasty & perfectly seasoned, but not burning hot spicy nor too salty. Healthy, too, with all the veggies. The others in our group of 8 enjoyed the regular burger, buffalo burger and more. Separate checks did not fluster our friendly waitress. One member of our group is local, and this is her very favorite place. The group liked it so much they went back for breakfast the next morning. Unfortunately, I had to catch a flight.

“A great local place in Santa Fe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Harry's likely needs no introduction for locals in Santa Fe. It is funky, out of the way, and has a very eclectic menu. They take no reservations and, if you get there after about 5:30 or 6:00 pm you can expect a wait. The service is good and the prices more in line with the quality of the food than the decor which is decidedly casual. This is a great place and easier to get into than the equally excellent Pasquale's in downtown Santa Fe.
