“Wonderful Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013 via mobile

This place is very luxurious with lovely comfortable rooms that provide great extras like chocolates, water, make-up remover towels, and much more. They have free Starbucks coffee in the lobby, free cookies in the evening and a delicious breakfast bar. The staff are very helpful especially the lady at breakfast who was lovely. The location is very close to the old town, about 5mins walk.

I find it really difficult to choose a place to stay based on an internet description but found the Old Santa Fe Inn exactly as advertised. The room was smallish but nicely appointed and the Inn is an easy walk to the old town. The staff are very nice and helpful and the breakfast buffet fantastic! Santa Fe can be very expensive (found some hotels that were $500 and up!) but the Inn is reasonably priced and very nice.

Our original booking was for a 5 night stay from 09/14/13 to 09/15/13. We had a change of plans whereby 2 stayed the 15th and 16th with friends in northern New Mexico.

1) Called on the 12th to change reservations and had absolutely no problems regarding availability, billing, etc. The front desk was aware of the change made;
2) The location is just a few short blocks away from the historical area and easy walking everywhere;
3) We had the Kiva queen room (photos attached). The room was just right. We didn't use the bath robes, but they were a nice touch. Nor did we use the fireplace, but did use the jacuzzi;
4) Free breakfast was good and the tamales were a special hit. Evening refreshments were also a nice touch: coffee, tea, guacamole&chips and cookies. The cookies were a bit stale, but the guacamole great!
5) Area resturants:
a) Burrito Company (breakfast) - very good
b) Blue Corn Cafe (dinner) - food was fine, but service/attitude not good
c) The Shed (dinner) - excellent; especially the sangria

We spent part of our time in the area and part during the old Route 66.

[We took no pictures of the restaurant or lobby areas as other pictures on tripadvisors were accurate.]

We stayed here about 3 years ago and wanted to return if given the chance. We were on our Route 66 trip and it was a no brainer to stay here again. The place was exactly how we remember. The service is fantastic and the rooms are as good as ever. This place is now our official home when we go to Santa Fe.

Stayed in room 18 - corner room that was quiet with a private table/chairs outside the room. King bed, gas kiva. Nice size room and nice bathroom amenities. Easy walk to square. Nice breakfast buffet with fruit and standard hot entrees. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: May want to ask for a room away from the street.

The most notable feature of this property is the friendly and helpful service. On arrival we were a bit early and needed a parking space. The on duty receptionist found us a parking space right outside the office so we could walk off and explore the town. This helpful attitude was apparent throughout our visit.
The room was very nice and comfortable, with a feature gas fire (which we needed, because it was rather cool in April when we visited) and breakfasts offered a great choice, including breakfast burritos, which I was unable to resist. Great location, within walking distance to restaurants and the main attractions. An excellent choice in Santa Fe.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a Kiva fireplace for a little extra atmosphere, especially in the cooler months.

It is readily apparent that the Owners of this little "gem" know something about Hospitality and how to meet guest expectations. They have taken an old style motor motel and turned it in to a warm, comfortable and well appointed place to stay. They did not renovate on the cheap and spent money not just for appearances but functionality; double paned windows, nice hardware, etc. The rooms are a little small (given the year built) but the rooms are very well appointed, super comfortable beds, nice linens, large flat screen televisions and all the amenities you would find at large branded properties.

When we checked in late afternoon our room was not quite ready and once I found out the location of the room was too close to the laundry room, Joey quickly found another room to accommodate us. But since that room was not ready either, Joey gave us the parking slip so we could park our car in the lot as he could see that I was not feeling well. We had hardly gotten out of our car near where our room would be, then we saw Joey running to personally check to see if the room was ready, and it was. That was so great of him to take the initiative to personally check the room himself. It saved me from having to walk around for an hour or so as I was not up to it.

I can't say enough about the Breakfast Buffet that they offer every morning...Wow! Not only do they have make your own waffles, 3 juices, cereal, yogurt, fruit but they also have a complete Burrito Bar with tortillas, beans, scrambled eggs, bacon, chilis, etc., etc., etc. Starbucks coffee and a wide varieties of tea. The Shining Star is LUCILLA (hope I spelled that right). She is a jewel. The sweetest, kindest, most attentive Breakfast Hostess I have ever run across. She was very kind, knew I wasn't feeling well and went out of her way to make sure I had everything I needed. She truly is the heartbeat of the property.

We have stayed many places in Santa Fe as we come here almost every year but by far this is our favorite place and can't wait to come back...I think next time we'll splurge and get one of the suites!

Thanks for a great stay.
