“"Charming Hotel with Personality"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2011

My husband and I stayed at this hotel with friends the last weekend in October 2011. The room was immaculate and Nocar who worked at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. He told us about the surrounding area and gave us recommendations on restaurants to eat at. The burrito breakfast bar was delicious. We had a great weekend and would definitely stay at this hotel next time we are in the Santa Fe area. "Kudos to Nocar."

A cliche title, I know, but it's apropos. From the immaculate room to the extremely helpful staff, Old Santa Fe Inn made me feel instantly comfortable. The breakfast room is like being at grandma's house every morning -- perfectly made tables and WAY too much delicious food. Stumbling distance from the Plaza / hot spot area.

Room Tip: Kiva fireplace is a must!

We spent our Thanksgiving enjoying Santa Fe - a first time away from home for us. This hotel is truly "walking distance" to the plaza with interesting shops along the short couple of blocks. Architecture is quintessential Santa Fe: we enjoyed a junior suite with a nice seating area; other family enjoyed a kiva king room. Breakfast was above average and in the afternoons, cookies were available until bedtime. Starbucks and hot chocolate were always available. Michael at the front desk went "above and beyond" to find us a dining venue for Thanksgiving evening as most restaurants and even delivery pizza were closed. Big THANK YOU for your assistance. All the front desk staff were helpful and delightful, welcoming us and answering all our questions- we will return!

Room Tip: Room 25 was great junior suite. Room 19 is upstairs kiva king with lovely view.

She's lived in Santa Fe for years but has never been a tourist there so my wife and I splurged on the hotel this trip to be close to the Plaza.

My biggest impression was WOW - they are friendly and helpful!! Michael walked us to our rooms to make sure the key worked and to explain the heating system. Other reviewers have already mentioned the warm cookies in the afternoon, the burrito breakfast bar (it's great; but there more to the breakfast than just the burritos), and the Starbucks' coffee you get in the lobby/library and room.

Our room was cozy with a fireplace (we got one of the two rooms without a kiva). The room was right next to the main street but wasn't all that loud.

Two things to note that might change your experience due to your particular likes/dislikes:
1. The TV was a small one; if you plan on hanging out in the room instead of heading out to the town you'll probably be disappointed. This wasn't a big deal to us.

2. The bed was VERY soft (not great if you're used to hard mattresses like we are) and the pillows are large (while we are used to flat pillows). We had a hard time getting a good night's sleep.

Three-night stay was our first at this fine inn. Room was immaculate upon arrival, stocked with reserves of facial tissue, TP and shower supplies. Thoroughly swept and cleaned each day. (I do various exercises on the floor -- and you can tell a lot about a place by how clean the rug is and its smell; this places gets a perfect score.) Room was roomy -- with space on each side and at least six feet from foot of bed to dresser drawer. Compact bathroom with shower, which had a spacious ledge and a shower head with good water pressure, also lots of hot water. Oh, a closet, too, next to the adjacent sink. Incredibly quiet room. Inn was full two of the three nights and we never heard next-door noise. Location is unbelievable, three blocks from the Plaza. Last, the breakfast bar had properly cooked scrambled eggs, good sausage and bacon, potatoes and a variety of toppings, plus a rotation of biscuits and pancake fritters(?, not sure what to call them); biscuits were a bit doughy. Coffee available all the time. Afternoon tea and cookies, too, but we weren't fans of the cookies. Helpful front desk, and very efficient check-in/out. Glad to see it is a popular place so it will stay in business (it's been around for decades, and has been remodeled). We will stay again.

My husband is quadiplegic and the handicapped room was totally accessible, with roll-in shower and access for a portable transfer lift. Not only was it accessible but extremely charming as well.

Michael, at the front desk, is gracious, helpful and friendly. The hotel is within walking distance of the historic Santa Fe plaza.

Room Tip: If you need an accessible room with a roll-in shower call the hotel in advance as they only have one...

This was our first stay (11/12/11) at the Old Santa Fe Inn, but it won't be our last. The person at the registration desk was the best!! He was friendly and of great assistance in locating sites we were interested in. The room was spotless and the beds comfortable. The location is perfect for downtown shopping and close to market square. The included hot breakfast was good and room prices competitive for the area. We wish, as seniors, we could have negotiated a lower price. Having said that, we will definitely consider "Old Santa Fe Inn" on our next trip to Santa Fe.

Room Tip: There aren't any bad rooms.
