“Top notch rooms with full breakfast just a few short blocks from The Plaza.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2011

The location just a few short blocks from the plaza was unbeatable, and the junior king suite with the kiva gas fireplace and jacuzzi tub was definitely special. The bed was supremely comfortable, and the lighting, layout, and lick-the-floor cleanliness were all fantastic. Location is quiet and peaceful. Staff were very professional and helpful. The complementary full breakfast (including burrito bar) was ample and located in a beautiful breakfast room. My only complaints were the small size of the actual tub/toilet area, the sparsity of staff to attend to empty serving trays and juice pitchers in the breakfast area, and the bizarrely small dessert plates you have to eat your breakfast on (less diameter than the size of the waffle you prepare on the waffle iron). Not sure if the small dessert plate idea was to encourage patrons to eat less??? Anyway, it was an excellent stay and comes highly recommended.

Room Tip: Junior king suite is excellent value.

Alex and the entire staff at the Old Santa Fe Inn had exceptional service and hospitality, better than most 5 star hotels I have stayed at in the past. The hospitality, breakfast, rooms and staff over exceeded my expectations and they had excellent customer service. The Inn is conveniently located within walking distance of downtown Santa Fe, that is filled with shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. I can't say enough about the staff and would recommend the Old Santa Fe Inn to anyone that wishes to have an exceptional time in Santa Fe, NM.

Two of us had the deluxe suite which was very spacious. The living room was large enough for 5 of us to relax in. The free burito bar for breakfast was delicious in a homey atmosphere. That alone was worth choosing the Olde Santa Fe Inn. We met there every morning to make plans for the day. They also provided lemon water for the guests which was much appreciated if not used to the dry air. I arrived very late because of plane delays and the hotel receptionist was very pleasant and was efficient. They have computers for guest usage. Free parking and you can walk to the plaza. There is an airport shuttle that costs about $15. Our room was clean but I had an issue with the sofa bed which I slept on. The blanket on that bed had not been washed between guests. A big no-no for me. It was taken care of but I don't think that should ever happen. The sofa bed was surprisingly comfortable.

Room Tip: A deluxe suite is two separate rooms. I liked being on the 2nd floor.

The Old Santa Fe Inn is a great bargain. While it's certainly not the lest expensive hotel/motel in Santa Fe, it is significantly less expensive than most located in the historic district and is a great bargain considering what you get for your money. It is located just minutes from the plaza and just about every other site you'll probably want to see ion Santa Fe. The layout is very nice with ample and convenient parking and the rooms are very nicely furnished. The breakfast is great, it's hard to imagine wanting more. Plus you get chocolate cookies in the afternoon and evening. The front desk staff are friendly and very helpful. Plus, if you've stayed there before, they will offer you a discount on the room, but be sure to ask about it.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2011

Just returned from a 4 night stay at OSFI. We had a king / kiva room on the lower level with rooms above........mistake#1. It was also by the maids room, ...mistake#2! Thankfully we planned on getting up around 8am to get a good start each day, which consequently is when the maids fire things up!! If you plan to sleep in at this hotel, you're going to be dissapointed. For the above comments, I'd like to add: Room 4 is LOUD!

The good: Clean, and friendly, especially the morning person Nomar,..the best!! The breakfast is convenient and pretty darn good considering. Great in a pinch. The coffee and water all day is very nice, and the guacomole and salsa at 4pm is really good!!

I thought we were going to have a problem at check-in with the afternoon person that day, Omar. He seemed dissinterested at first, but ....was ok in the end.

YES people, this used to be a motel, get over it. But, ...the refurb was nicely done and the entire property is cozy and has a nice southwest feel.

Our room was very clean, small but not too small, I mean, how often are you in your room anyhow, right? There were a few 'tattered' parts, like the chairs in our room had seen better days, and the fireplace was pretty beat up on the hearth, but nothing totally offensive.

The decor was definately southwest, but wasn't to the point of "over the top". It was a decent mix of SW, and Spanish....it fit the bill.

The bad: Again, we were in room 4, ...not good with the maids quarters right there in the corner. Additionally, although good, and friendly, the maids like to 'chat it up' when working, so it's not just cleaning noise, it's talking as well.

As you've seen if you go to "average, or poor" reviews, ...noise is an issue, and we experienced it first hand. Immediately, once we checked in, we went to our room and before the key got in the door, my wife and I stood there and said "what's that"?? It was the couple above us talking. I thought, well, once we're in the room it'll go away because we were in the hallway,.........wrong, unfortunately.

The walls are THIN. EVERY move the people made above us was amplified! Their idle chat, the TV, everything. I saw the couple the next morning, ....nice, mid 50's couple, so it's not like they were 'partying' upstairs. This made me assume that the structure was the cause. Thin walls and ceilings for sure. Actually, ..on our last night, my wife had to call the front desk to have the couple (a different couple from night 1) upstairs turn down/off their TV at 1am. I'm assuming they fell asleep with it on, but you could hear pretty clearly. To the credit of the evening manager, she did take care of the issue promptly.

My advice would be this: This hotel has a great location and is cozy with a nice New Mexican / Santa Fe feel. The staff is nice, and accommodating., and for all of it's ammenities, has good rates considering the average "in town" rate of most other hotels.

But, ... I'd highly recommend an upstairs room, and if we come back to this hotel, that is what I'll book ...ONLY! I've seen other reviews that say the walls are thin, so I'm not sure that a single level location is any better, but I don't have first hand experience.

For noise alone, I have to give the OSFI a 3/5.

Room Tip: Avoid room 4. Book an upstairs room if you can. Walls and ceilings are thin.
