One could go on an on about the coffee and the espresso. Let's start here: Yes, it is the best in Santa Fe, and for sure, the freshest, richest you may have on many a vacation. Every cup, as Bill Deutsch, the shop's proprietor accurately declares in his Holy Spirit Manifesto, is, according to my numerous visits over many years, "professionally prepared and properly served" (see http://www.holyspiritespresso.com/about.html). But Holy Spirit Espresso is as much about Bill and what he'll give you before, during and after he prepares your coffee. He's got the Santa Fe look, but get past that. Talk with him, ask him about his business, local or any level politics, or the independence and resilience he needed to locate when the big hotel down the block (where his stand stood for years), made life too uncomfortable for his small business to do it's thing in the way it needed to be done. So, Bill moved across the street and into a big, walk in closet sized coffee stand that you'll sense 100 yards away when the java molecules in the air bring his offerings in your direction. The hundreds of post cards from all over the globe that hang on the counter.... ask yourself why would all of these people bother to get back with a guy they just met and who prepared them a simple cup of Joe? See Bill, then you'll know.
