“Artsy glitz”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

We had gotten a Living Social deal for the Luxx in January, and used it for a one night get-out-of-dodge mini mini vacation in March. It really is a nice place, but if it weren't for the 50% off deal, we might never had stayed there. Santa Fe boutique hotels are overly pricey - cute and glitzy, but they tend to be a bit sticker-shocking.

The place itself is a bit hard to locate. Using a GPS, we did find it after 3 passes. The hotel sign is very nondescript, and combined with a sushi restaurant's entrance. That said, we found it (but not the parking area behind the property that the email indicated). Walking to the front desk from the entrance and long dark hallway is a little disorientating on your first go. Past the sushi place and a coffee shop, around a corner or two, you find the 'lobby'. The lobby walls are lined with original artwork by a Czech artist, which is cool, and the check-in person is nice and polite. The overall impression is like an old West bordello, complete with a balcony around the ceiling.

The room we got was a few feet from one of the rear entrances, which lead out to the patio and hot tub area, aka smoking area. The door and the gate off of the street all have a code (same as your room - no key cards), but they proved to be unnecessary as they were always unlocked.

There is a $25 per night 'resort fee', for which you get a parking spot in the garage next door, which regularly is $6 if you parked there on your own, a newspaper, and access to the hot tub (I guess). Fortunately we didn't get charged that because there was a computer problem with pulling up our receipt, which was very nice, as I don't even like to pay those fees in Vegas, let alone Santa Fe.

We drove into town looking for a place to stay and passed by after looking on kayak.com but went inside and booked directly for two nights.

Decor was quirky and charming. The towels and sheets all had that fresh-from-the-dryer scent! Room was smallish and dark, but for the rate it was well worth it! We were mostly out enjoying the sights anyway.

Limited staff that we encountered were all friendly and front desk guys were happy to give tons of recommendations and local tips.

Proximity to the town plaza is great, about a 1 block walk. Some good bars/restaurants right there. If you're looking for exercise, skip the treadmill here and head out to a local trail instead!

PS - we had no such experience of a staff member pushing us to review. We were genuinely pleased with our stay at Luxx!

My husband and i stayed here last October, We were told if we gave the "Hotel" a good review on trip advisor, we would be given a gift certificate for dinner at a local restaurant!! Any review on here stating it was a great hotel was most likely given a free dinner! Its location is in the rear of a building, behind two stores, Lack of a front desk and anyone to attend to your needs are not available, The phone numbers they have hanging in the hallways to call if you need anything, are NOT answered when you call. We would never stay at this "Hotel" again

My Wife and I needed a weekend away so after countless hours of searching for a different hotel we found the Luxx, This Hotel is a very nice hotel. The Staff ensured our rolom was to our expectations, and even showed us how to use the google TV. The Hotel gave us valuable information as to where to go dance and eat. We will definatly revist this establishment.
The location is perfect lone b.lock from the famed Sante Fe Plaza. We did not use the Hottub due to the weather being chilly.

This is probably the nicest hotel I've stayed in. Separate bedrooms, fully furnished, luxurious everything. And the best part is the staff are very accommodating, polite and overall are quite helpful. Definitely a nice spot in a great location!

We booked this as a last minute booking from a well known site and in honesty got a very good deal. The information on that site, states that there is free onsite booking. That is partly true, there is secure parking nearby, however it is not free and there is a $25 charge for this. However despite this, this place is worth staying at, especially if you want something unique and different. Also we got such a good rate for the 2 nights that we stayed, that I had no problem paying the extra money.

The hotel location is great, very close to get around in the main parts of the town. True to say that you need to walk in from the street and walk into the depths of the building, however there is a nice Reception/Lounge area when you do reach it.

The room we stayed in was comfortable and nicely decorated, definitely recommend it for those who like their decor more exotic and interesting. The bed was a kingsize and great! The only downside with the room is that it was rather dark, not much natural light due to the physical proxmity of the adjacent buildings. I think this probably applies to all of the rooms at the hotel.

There is access to the internet from the bedroom TV and view on demand programmes. That is great, but frankly we found it really difficult to use, so would have been helpful for some written instructions in the room.

The internet connection is free and good. The 'gym' is not much to right home about, there is a treadmill and a cross trainer and thats it. So bettter off going for a run (although if you are not used to running at altitude - beware!).

The hotel staff were pleasant, friendly and knowledgable!

Finally, there is a jacuzzi in the back, small but definitely worth a try, simply to experience and enjoy the night skies!

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. We had to go through 3 different rooms before we got one that wasn't occupied...which doesn't give me much faith in their booking system and made me have to take all our luggage with us whenever we left since I wasn't sure if they were going to randomly give the keys to our room to some stranger to walk in. The carpet is in bad shape as mentioned by others. The so called hot tub (never got above luke warm) looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months, and at night people just seemed to have non stop sex in it. Of course if you have an issue after 9 or 10 pm no staff is at the hotel, the place is basically empty of staff from 10pm to 10 or 11 am. Upon check out we couldn't find anyone available to give us a bill or anything. Our room didn't have enough towels or toilet paper and we couldn't get anymore. Will never stay at again.

Also all the positive reviews on trip advisor seem to be a little weird, they all sound the same and I believe they are being written by the hotel and not actual guests.

Room Tip: Pick one away from the hot tub.
