My experience here was awful. First, the service was atrocious. I actually had to negotiate with the waitress as to where I would sit because for some inexplicable reason she wouldn't let me sit at the tiny table for two and stuck me off in a corner. Then she rushed me through my meal and practically threw the check in my face to get me out the door. I am still bewildered as to what I did to be treated like that and for the first time in a long time I was sorely tempted not to leave any tip at all. I wound up leaving a tip but a tiny one, hoping they would get the message.
I ordered the rice bowl with spicy tuna and it was a joke. The tuna was soft and mushy and had a terrible mouth feel. This fact could have been covered up by an alert chef by coating the tuna with spices but instead the spices for the spicy tuna were simply dumped on one side of the bowl, not to mention that it amounted to a teaspoon in amount. To get through the meal I elected to do something I have never done in a sushi restaurant before: I dumped soya sauce on my raw fish!
Kohnami is a few blocks away and Shohko Cafe not much further in the other direction both which have far superior service and food for the same price. Just avoid this place.
