Having spent some time in the Santa Fe area visiting some sights and sounds that can be offered by the architectural and cultural influences I decided it was time to go experience the other side of the State of New Mexico by partaking on an exciting rafting adventure.
Being here with my family I wanted to ensure then had the best experience possible so I shopped around for the best deal.
After contacting just a couple of companies it was clear to see that the Santa Fe Rafting Company was the best.
Although slightly more expensive the range of services they provide was clearly worth the small amount for, after all you do get what you pay for.
Whether it be from the friendly, informative office staff who was able to taylor a trip that suited our needs, or to the conprehensive buffet lunch provided on the side of the river, the Santa Fe Rafting Company is the company for you.
Our trip started at their Boat Yard located on the corner of Cerillos and St Francis, where we were welcomed by the guides and signed in, they then outfitted us with gear ready to depart on our adventure. From here they transported us using their transportation to the river (which is a service no other company offers for the half day trip) and along the way gave us a tour talk about all the history And heritage along the way.
After a short drive we were at the edge of the Rio Grand and whilst one of the guides took us to the side of the river and talked to us further about the local area and began to run through all the various safety precautions the remainder of the guides were busy at work checking the equipment and loading the rafts up ready to depart. After the safety talk we were ready to go, well almost all of us were, my youngest was now beginning to get a little bit nervous. All of a sudden from nowhere a guide came along, got down on his knee and spoke to her face to face like an adult and tried to calm her nerves. This is something I have rarely seen before, this level of customer service to even a small child, and from the look of the ease it was done this seemed to be a regular occurrence.
The day was packed with excitement and enjoyment as we splashed our way down the river, carefully navigated by our expert guide, and even by a not so expert one. We all heals our breath as my youngest "guided" her way down the biggest rapid she had ever seen!
The trip wrapped up with some swimming and general messing around, we even had guides pulling other guides out their boats, the scene was beautiful, you truly got a sense of how much every one working wanted to be there, and how they really enjoyed it.
We arrived at the take out to have our food prepared and ready and as we lay on the beach catching the last few rays of the warming sun all the equipment was packed away and we were ready to go.
The trip home was much different, it was at this point I was so pleased i wasn't in my own car, after being on the river getting soaked and exhausted I could not imagine having to drive myself home and was throughly appreciative of the transportation provided, and I could tell by the majority if the van sleeping also that they were too.
I would throughly reccomend to anyone who is looking for a great rafting experience with the professionalism of a multi national company, but still with the charm and friendliness of your local store to go with Santa Fe Rafting, the extra effort they put in really reflects their goal of customer service. They provided me with a beautiful family memory and I will be returning to them in the near future.
