“Repeat guests, loved the Hacienda, a touch of Santa Fe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2009

Hotel Santa Fe has become a home away from home for us in Santa Fe. The decor, service, spa, and hospitality bring us back time and time again. The shuttle services is a great feature, second to none in the city. The Amaya is an excellent restaurant within the hotel. If you want to discus local native american culture, artists or jewelry drop by the hotel gift shop for a treat. People will find little of the hustle and bustle that can be found in the main hotel lobby in the Hacianda, it's very quiet and relaxing. For people that get Santa Fe, it's a great place to stay.

We decided to give this hotel a try, despite very conflicting reviews. The Hacienda building is kind of interesting with nice artwork throughout, and the rooms and bathrooms are quite nice. Overall, however, the property needs help and appears to suffer from poor management standards. We did not realize that dogs are welcome -- apparently -- all over the hotel. In walking through the lobby bar area one evening, there were 3 large dogs (2 dalmatians and at least one other big dog) sitting right around the table with their owner-guests. There was a stain on our hotel room rug, which may or may not have been dog-related. Service at front desk was unbelievably unprofessional, and we never saw our "butler" after we checked in. As soon as we checked in, we found that the sink in our bathroom was not draining. My husband called the butler right after we checked in about 5 pm, and he said he would let engineering know about it the following day, when an engineer would be back on duty. We had to keep the drain open with a coffee stirrer in order to brush teeth.

The cheese and beverage reception in the Hacienda lounge, as well as the breakfast spread, looked sloppy and unappealing. Consequently, we went elsewhere for breakfast even though it was included in the room.

Finally, the shuttle service which is one of their selling features is not professional. The main shuttle was broken down, and there was only 1 driver for this huge hotel.

Just back from a great stay at the Hacienda at the Hotel Santa Fe. This is however the first hotel I have stayed at that is completely pet -friendly. Most hotels set aside certain pet friendly rooms and since I am allergic to dogs and have asthma, I used to ask when I checked in but stopped since the response was always "of course there have been no dogs in your room".. As soon as I checked in and was in the room for a bit however, I knew I was going to have issues. When I inquired at the desk about a non-pet room, I was informed at that point that ALL the rooms were pet friendly. They did however move us to another room and it turned out just fine, but needless to say it could have been a disaster. Other than this issue, we found the hotel great and the staff just fine. We especially liked sitting in the main lobby either before or after dinner as it was a great place to relax and have a drink. I also thought the location was great (some may want to be a bit closer to the plaza) since it was an easy walk to the plaza, but also some favorite restaurants like Max's and Tomasitos. All in all a great time.

My mom and I recently stayed at the Hotel Santa Fe for a mother-daughter vacation. It was an odd experience! The hotel was grossly understaffed. The "butler" was a joke--he was also the shuttle driver and the bellman! Although there were three shuttles, only one was running at a time, which led to up to a 30 minute wait. The breakfast and happy hour were not always replenished. In fact, one day we went to breakfast and there were several tables with dirty dishes on them, cold coffee, and no staff in sight. Sawyer, John, and the restaurant staff were very professional, hard-working, and helpful, but the front desk staff were sometimes a little curt, and the concierges were disorganized and unenthusiastic.
The rooms were quiet, well-furnished, and decorated nicely. The shower was great, the bed was not. Although the rooms were of four star quality, the service was not even close to that!
I would not consider staying at this hotel again, but Santa Fe itself is amazing. The opera, flamenco dancing, chamber music concert, and Georgia O-Keefe museum were incredible! We also enjoyed the city tour and dining at Maria's. We'd return to Santa Fe in a minute, we'd just find a better hotel!

I could not have been happier...we loved the staff, the free shuttle service, the complimentary yoga, the pool, the breakfast and afternoon snacks, which were included...the shuttle was available to take us and pick us up on a moment's notice...It was just a terrific place to stay...it was our first time in Santa Fe

We stayed at the Hacienda for 2 nights, for our Anniversary which happens to also be New Year's Eve. The room was lovely, nice gas fireplace, great large bathroom, comfy bed and very clean. Excellent service and help from our butler, who arranged to have my husband's clothes pressed at the last minute on New Years Eve after they got wrinkled on our trip there. We had a car, so the location wasn't a huge deal for us, and frankly it isn't that far from things anyways. We didn't get the opportunity to enjoy any of the other amenities due to our short stay, so I cannot comment on those. The biggest disappointment I had was seeing how inflated our nightly rate was staying over the holiday, more than double the usual rate. So, if you are traveling during the normal season I feel this hotel is excellent for the price.

We were four women, two pairs of sisters, traveling from Florida via Denver, driving to Taos, then Santa Fe.We stayed at the Hacienda for 2 nights and found it to be a very happy experience! The rooms were large and lovely and the bathrooms were spacious with veyr nice walk-in showers. We all commented on the quality of the towels as well. (We like them to be all cotton and a little thinner.)
We had one little issue with the desk clerk who was a bit gruff and not very welcoming but our Butler, Michael, was great....very amiable and made certain that we had everything that we needed for our stay. We all thought that he was very good at his job!
A well-appointed hospitality room on the third floor served as a cozy, comfortable room for late afternoon drinks, as well as breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was a notch above typical continental breakfasts, as our Butler MIchael made delicious waffles to order. (The only negative in the hospitality room were the square, woven placmats that were attractive to look at but which curled upwards on all ends, making it difficult to position your dinnerware on them.)
At-will transportation to the town square was offered but we found it to be an easy walk.
We hada very enjoyable dinner in the hotel at the suggestion of Sophie, a waitress that we had met earlier in the afternoon. We had actually made reservations at another restaurant but was encouraged by Sophie to eat in the hotel. We did and found the prix fixe dinner a very good value.
Three of the four of us used the spa and thought it was very nice.
We would definitely stay there again!
