“Astoundingly peaceful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2010

I would highly recommend Terrain Santa Fe while visiting the Santa Fe area. It is one of the most peaceful, unique, and immaculate places I have ever stayed. From the moment one arrives on the property, your cares seem to slip away. It offers communing with nature, and yet easy access to the heart of Santa Fe. Shirley and Lucinda are without doubt the most knowledgeable hosts, having great insight into the local area as well as the arts. It is truly a gem not to be missed!

Our stay at Terrrain was excellent. Lucinda and Shirley were a pleasure to meet, very accomodating, and provided wonderful touches such as wine, cheese, candles, and snacks upon arrival. The Shoji room was beautiful and made for a relaxing, romantic retreat. One of the nicest rooms by far among the hotels, B&B's we've stayed. Breakfast was gourmet and delicious! Thanks for a great stay!

My husband and I traveled to Santa Fe on September 30, 2009 for 4 nights. We were looking for a place to relax. Terrain is perfect for that. We stayed in Shojii suite. Our room was big, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The room had a fridge, stacked with snacks, water, milk, yogurt. There is a microwave and coffeemaker in the room. Bathroom had a huge tub, sinks for him and her, robes, slippers. The suite has an access to a private patio. Sometimes we ate our lunch there. The grounds are amazing!
Lucinda, the owner and our hostess, is a wonderful person and a great cook. She invited us to her house for breakfast every morning. The food was extremely tasty and there was plenty, more than we could possibly eat! It was also beautifully served.
We absolutely fell in love with Terrain. We recommend it to our friends.
If ever in Santa Fe again, we will only stay in Terrain.

You know when you make a spectacular discovery and want to tell everyone about it? That 's how we feel about Terrain - Santa Fe. It's beautiful, peaceful, romantic, well-located, and unique among bed and breakfasts for its simple elegance . The gourmet breakfasts are delicious and generous, and the helpfulness and graciousness of the innkeeper/owner, Lucinda, who was on-site during our weekend, was beyond compare. If you're a contemporary art lover or have an interest in Eastern tradition all the better. Did I mention the spectacular patios, the one-of-a-kind gazebo outfitted with a queen-sized bed, the great Nautilus double tub in the Shoji Suite bath, plus the ever-ready hot tub outside your door? The owners have thought of every detail that makes one's stay comfortable and memorable. The only problem in staying here...you don't want to leave the property, it's so marvelous. Brava!

I travel several times each year, in the U.S and abroad, and Terrain is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed in... The hosts, Lucinda and Shirley, have created such an inspiring and comfortable environment that once you have arrived you just want to stay put and listen to the wind rustling the leaves of the Aspen trees scattered throughout the property. You can easily do that because Lucinda and Shirley are so attentive that you will find all kinds of goodies, all nicely wrapped, waiting for you on the kitchen counter and in the fridge, including a bottle of wine and milk in a glass container (I had not seen milk in a glass container since my childhood). I look forward to future retreats at Terrain.

The hosts are fabulous - very unobtrusive, but there when you need them. The suite and the location are fabuous. And the decor and artwork provide an extremely elegant setting. Whether you are looking for a romantic weekend, a few days of solitude, or a place to stay while you enjoy the cultural amenities of Santa Fe, Terrain is the place. My wife and I will return at least once a year.

Our 5 night stay in the Dreamhaus was the perfect tonic to our normally fast-paced and stressed lives. The cottage is better than we expected - decorated by and for adults and full of wonderful original art, read materials, and all the comforts of home one would want. There's a comfortable living/dining/kitchen area with Kiva style fireplace, nice bath with a nice spa-type shower, and a bedroom with king bed and a good mattress and nice linens. The refrigerator came stocked with wine and a cheese tray, and there were all kinds of other treats available (homemade cookies and crackers, nuts, dried fruit, multiple coffees).

Our hosts were friendly and knowledgeable, and went out of their way to make sure we had a great vacation experience - giving driving directions, making restaurant recommendations, etc. They also arranged for us to have a massage on one of the patios during our stay. and the massage therapist was great!

Breakfast in the morning was gourmet, delicious, and huge - so good that we didn't go "out to dinner" until day 3.

Terrain was the perfect getaway for us to relax and enjoy quiet time. While there's WiFi access and plenty of flat-screened TVs, it was much nicer to sit on the patio, or lounge on the couch and feel the breeze coming in the windows.

Terrain has a nice hot tub, covered outdoor fireplace area, and multiple (both private and public) patios overlooking wildflowers and feeding hummingbirds.

The B&B is about 15 minutes from the Santa Fe square.
