“Great Culinary Meal in Santa Fe - Sorry we didn't find this restaurant on prior visits”
My wife and I have visited Santa Fe several times before. We are always looking for good, new restaurants. This trip she found Galisteo Bistro & Wine Bar in TripAdvisor with very favorable ratings. We made a reservation for our last night in Santa Fe. We are really glad we visited. It was great. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess, whom I believe was Marge Chickering, the co-owner, and promptly seated in the interesting dining room. . My wife started with the duck pate ($14) and I started with a shrimp Remoulade ($13). Both were innovatively served. I had five large, grilled shrimp and a small dish of warm New Orleans style Remoulade sauce rather than it all being served over a bed of lettuce. My wife’s pate was soft, rather than a mold, and was served with a series of toppings / condiments. Both were excellent. My wife had the Gnocchi Primavera ($21) with squash in a marinara sauce which came in a generous helping. I had one of their specials which was an Alaskan Cod Clementine ($27) which was pan-roasted with a scallop / mushroom duxelle, sauce mornay, served with sautéed seasonal vegetables & tomato risotto. Both entrees were exquisite. We had a very nice bottle of crisp Napa Valley Horse Heaven Sauvignon Blanc with the meal. We then had a very tasty lemon Semifreddo ($8) which we shared. I finished with a French press coffee and my wide had a glass of Muscat. All of the wait staff, which operated as a team, were very attentive and friendly. Near the end of the meal, a gentleman whom I believe was Robert Chickering, the executive chef / co-owner, stopped by to inquire how we had enjoyed our meal and to thank us for coming in. It was an overall excellent meal and dining experience. We will certainly be back on out next trip to Santa Fe and will recommend this restaurant to our friends. In fact, as we were leaving, we encountered a young couple on holiday from France standing on the sidewalk looking at the posted menu. We engaged them in conversation for maybe 10 minutes extoling the restaurant and talking about their travels in the US and our travels and living in Europe.
