“Perfect location, full of local charm, small rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

The location of this hotel is right in the middle of historic Santa Fe. Every inch of this hotel is filled with local charm. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

My only reservation about this hotel is that the rooms are very small. If you are a single couple, it’s charming and fine. We were traveling with a newborn baby and the small bed and limited luggage space made the space a bit of a challenge.

Dear weldkamp, we are so pleased to know you loved the historic charm of Hotel St Francis! Our friendly staff loves reading these reviews and we can't wait to welcome you back next time you want a nice stay in downtown Santa Fe. Our location is hard to beat, as is the guest service. Keep in mind we offer very reasonably priced upgrades to our larger deluxe rooms; hopefully we can show you some options when we see you on your next adventure. Alder Seaman

Central location, ample parking across the street in a lighted lot, large room with two queen? size beds. Stayed on the 2nd floor facing the east. Bathroom dark with only one overhanging light. Clean accommodations. A bit noisy in the early a.m. as delivery trucks and garbage trucks in this central downtown plaza area. Easy walking distance to most attractions. Friendly hotel staff and the check in and out process a breeze. Nice front patio for lounging or visit the Secreto Bar. Nice old history, but updated and modern in the mission style.

Hello there snappytraveler07; we thank you for your review! Our lovely deluxe guest rooms are indeed spacious; in fact you got to stay in the largest of our rooms. It's great to know the modern updates in our historic hotel worked well for you, and that our staff made the stay easy. We look forward to seeing you again for another stay complete with the best drinks (and people watching) in Santa Fe! Alder Seaman

The Hotel St. Francis is literally in the heart of Santa Fe - no need to drive once you get parked because everything you want to see or do is in reasonable walking distance (and lets face it - the traffic in historic Santa Fe is RIDICULOUS!!) Rooms are clean, but beware - accomdations are tight. Size up a room if you are claustophobic or plan on spending a lot of time in your room. Staff is very friendly and informative. They seem to really care that you have a great stay at the hotel and the surrounding area. This is my second stay at the St. Francis and I will go back! No frills - but a price that is affordable.

Room Tip: A room with a King bed gives you a little more room.

We meant to go to Sedona but with the wildfire out plans changed and decided to take a trip to Santa Fe and wanted to stay around Santa Fe Plaza so we could walk around and explore the area and then come to our room and rest.
Photograph of this hotel and rooms are breath taking so we were very excited and booked a room around $200 per night.
When we went there greeted by a lovely young girl who was very excited to give us key of room the 109 and made us excited when she said we would be staying in a larger and corner room with more windows and natural lights.
We got to the room and find ourselves in a very tiny walking closet size room with two windows one facing a garbage enclosure and other window showing street view of cars right in front of window with people walking and could look into the room.
We had to keep windows closed the whole time because of privacy but could not do anything about the screaming and noises outside as well as inside because the house cleaning room was just across from us and fitness club next to us so we could hear people and their cars on one side, cleaning ladies brining and taking mops and buckets and people working out and banging weights on other side.
Garbage trucks with all the beeps and noises came around 5:00 am to take the street garbage next to our second window.
We had the most restless night in a hotel ever and hurried to check out so we could come home and rest.
I understand reasons for all these flaws and would have been fine if I was informed about that on website or by the lady who checked me in.
Accepting something with the knowledge versus pushed into an unknown situation make a big difference.
I have photos of views from windows to prove all this but not sure if there a way to post here.

Dear snadeem1, we appreciate you choosing the Hotel St Francis and your taking the time to write a review. Our downtown property is naturally subject to street noise; however, we are always happy to offer our guests different room choices as long as we have the availability. Please keep this in mind if you should decide to give us another chance; we have a large range of room types and would love the opportunity to show you the peaceful side of our hotel. I am truly sorry to hear your accommodations did not meet your expectations during your stay and I thank you for your feedback. Alder Seaman

The hotel has a friendly and helpful staff! They are very accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The entire hotel has a wonderful atmosphere. It is within walking distance to spectacular historical sites, delicious food, and great shopping!!! My family would definitely stay at the Hotel St. Francis when we return to Santa Fe!

I should probably rate this a 2-3 (fair to poor). Tiny, tiny room. There was a step to get to the tiny bathroom. First night I kept getting my foot caught in the holes of the top sheet. No kidding, the top sheet had 3 rips, the largest of which was 4 inches. Called front desk in the a.m. and they said they would have it taken care of. There was not any full length mirror to check appearance before leaving room (only the mirror above sink). I pulled up a chair above sink to stand on to assess if I looked OK before leaving room. No coffee pot in room. I called front desk 2 days later to see if they had coffee in lobby and they said they would send coffee pot to room. The front lobby was very nice but I was absolutely not happy with room. Will stay elsewhere next trip.

Simple elegance near the center of Santa Fe. Rooms are European style small, but carefully appointed: Zen meets early southwestern colonial. Great bed w Frette sheets. Kind service. Serene lobby, delightful loggia (both with bar service). Definitely would return.
